Interesting that you say that Fish. If you follow one of the links provided by kortia or cmkeller in this thread, you will see in the US cover of Deathly Hallows that Harry Potter is wearing what seems to be a leather pouch tied to a cord around his neck.

And if you check out the cover of of the UK children’s version one of them is holding a _sword_ with a ruby on the pommel.

Closer inspection of the picture suggests that Dobby the house-elf is the one holding the sword.

And the leather bag around Harry’s neck on the US cover – that reminded me of depictions I’ve seen of amerindian medicine pouch. I _SO_ hope Rowling doesn’t have Harry travel to the American Southwest. That would feel too much like _A Study in Scarlet_.
