My Google skills are failing me. The other day I was on hold with an insurance company and the hold music was this really catchy, upbeat country-ish song and the singer sounded like Darius Rucker. I wasn’t on hold long enough for any of the lyrics to stick with me. I went through a bunch of Darius Rucker’s music on YouTube and couldn’t find the song. It’s not a Hootie and the Blowfish song either, I already tried that too. I guess what I’m looking for are country (or country-ish) singers who sound like Darius Rucker. I have no idea if I’ll even recognize the song if I hear it again but I don’t even know where to start looking. I need to replace the Captain and Tennille song that’s been stuck in my head and searching for this song might do it. ---

Did you google “sounds like darius rucker”? I just did and it brought up a few songs/bands/videos 🙂 ---

Funny, I just heard a song the other day that made me think of Darius Rucker - not the style of music so much as some quality in the singer’s voice. I’m guessing it might have been “Keep My Head Afloat” by Jeremy Zucker. I was listening to the newest Now That’s What I Call Music CD (#63) and that’s the only song that sounded like it could be it when I just listened to the sound clips (I’m at work or I’d go play it and see if I can ID it better.) I don’t really listen to the radio anymore and I had just grabbed that CD on impulse at Target so I know it was some song on that compilation. Can’t guarantee it’s what you’re looking for but you could go check out the soundclips for that album and see if anything rings a bell. ---

Never mind, I don’t think it’s that song after all. I went back through and listened to the CD and couldn’t find whatever I was thinking of so now I don’t know what I heard that reminded me of Rucker. Hope you have luck finding it somewhere. ---

I’m gonna go \*waaaay \*out on a limb, here, but maybe something by **Uncle Tupelo**? Jay Farrar has a “similar” quality in his voice. The songs are “countryesque”. Could be **Son Volt** , too. Same guy, similar songs. ---

I will listen through the playlists and see if this blasted song is in there. If nothing else I’m finding some new (to me anyways) artists! It’s not the song that **Gatopescado** linked to but I think I like that song anyways. ---

Bumping this because I found it! I was out shopping this morning and I hear this song on the store radio. Sounds vaguely familiar to start with… and then the chorus starts. That’s it! That’s the song I was wondering about and pretty much forgot about! I stopped in the middle of the store and googled the lyrics. The reason it sounds like Darius Rucker is because it is Darius Rucker. Never thought to look for songs _featuring_ Darius Rucker… :smack: I present to you- Robert Randolph & the Family Band featuring Darius Rucker. “Love Do What It Do” Good song!
