This one has been bugging me for a long time.

The song is about a ring. It might have been a golden ring, and I think that a beach was mentioned somewhere in the song. It was on a compilation album that also included the song “Midnight Train to Georgia” so it would have come out around the same time as that song did.

If anyone gets this I will buy them something pretty!

This seems like a research assignment for somebody on a 6-hour conference call.

How about “[Rings](http://www.webfitz.com/lyrics/index.php?option=com_webfitzlyrics&Itemid=27&func=fullview&lyricsid=4350)” by Cymarron (1971)?

No mention of a beach, but a few references to standing “on the sand” near what I perceive to be the big finish (although I have no recollection of actually having heard this song).

No beach, but Tammy Wynette and George Jones did a duet called _[Golden Ring](http://www.cowboylyrics.com/lyrics/jones-george/golden-ring-6639.html)_.

This golden ring doesn’t shine for me anymore,
And this diamond ring doesn’t mean what I took it for

I would think that maybe “Band of Gold” by Freda Payne might have been it, but no mention of a beach in the lyrics, sorry.

Wow, I think that might be it! I’ll have to see if I can find a way to listen to it, but it sure seems to fit the bill.
I am stunned, thanks!
