I’ve begun the process of appending Julian Day numbers to the Join Date and User Numbers in my trimmed down and sorted summary file. As soon as I get that caught up with reality I will post it in hopes that somebody with good spreadsheet skills and software can do some fast number-crunching to provide a Big Picture analysis of how Join Dates and User Numbers are related. The other details about “active members” may take more hands-on work. That Biggest Day piece of trivia is another item we’ll need luck or grunt work to find. Keep it coming. Here’s another data point for you. My user number is 14216 and I joined on 4-24-2001 Users 14196-14219 joined on the same day. 23 people joined on 4-24-01 21 are inactive Myself and Simply\_cats(14219) are the only two remaining active. Oddly enough, Mort Furd, stuck around for 4 years and contributed 1432 posts before disappearing in Nov of '05 ---

You guys do everything the hard way. 😉 Computers will do this kind of thing for you. During the other thread **Zeldar** mentioned, I wrote some code that scrapes data like this, and as a result, I have a nearly complete dataset for answering these types of questions. It was a pretty simple matter to run it a bit more to get a picture of what’s changed in the meantime, and now I can make fascinating observations like: Day with the most signups: April 28, 2011, with 304 signups. However, only 2 of those are still active, so lots of people who flamed out (see below) or left is less interesting than looking at the number of signups who actually stuck around for a certain amount of time, such as 60 days. Top 10 days for that: ```auto (n = num signups, a = num still active, p = percent still active) date n a p 2003-01-07 34 1 3 2002-03-14 35 4 11 2003-01-08 37 3 8 2003-01-09 38 1 3 2003-01-10 38 5 13 2002-03-13 39 6 15 1999-03-14 43 5 12 1999-03-11 49 7 14 2002-03-12 58 8 14 2002-03-11 107 27 25 ``` The date with the highest number of now-banned users is, unsurprisingly, April 28, 2011 (232 banned users). The next highest is Jan 4, 2011, with 83 banned users. The oldest banned account is Markxxx, banned after 4465 days. I don’t have time to do more slicing and dicing at the moment, but if you have questions that can be answered by knowing everyone’s post count, total number of posts, signup date and last activity date, shoot them my way. I can also make the data available if anyone else wants to nerd out or draw graphs. About a million people joined on the same day as me (4/26/2000). Most of them quit the Dope 2 days later. Only 4 are still active, including the first person to join that day: pkbites. [Here](http://sdmbexample.nfshost.com/profiles.csv) is a dump of the full data in CSV format if anyone wants it, and [here](http://sdmbexample.nfshost.com/bydate.csv) it is tallied into buckets by date, showing for each day: number of signups, number that stayed for at least 5 days, 30 days, 60 days, 180 days, and the number that are still active. Should make a pretty graph if someone wants to give it a whirl. ---

On my join date, which was 03-05-2004 in my time zone: [ul] [li]34 joined[/li][li]20 with no posts (including one Banned with no posts)[/li][li]8 with 1, 2 or 3 posts[/li][li]1 with 6 posts[/li][li]1 with 17 posts[/li][li]1 with 124 posts[/li][li]1 with 180 posts[/li][li]1 (me) with 693 posts, not including this one[/li][/ul] The only one other than me who could remotely be said to be active is the one with 17 posts, whose last activity date was in March this year. So, 34 joined, one or two active. ---

I’m on my iPod and can’t get the first link to open but the total signup count for my join date of 12-27-03 is off. The bucket list (heh) shows 30 signups that day but the actual count is 36. I’m not sure about the totals in the other columns because I didn’t compile the same info. Just thought I’d mention it in case there’s a bug throwing throwing off your totals. ---

To simplify things, my numbers were gathered in my own timezone (PST), which can make the day buckets slightly different than yours. I just checked the data and it looks right: userid 42767 was the last one registered on 12/26/03 and 42798 was the first one registered on 12/28/03. The 30 in between were all registered on 12/27.
