According to the AP (via _[Washington Post](https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/the-latest-california-police-respond-to-shooter-report/2015/12/02/f1b194d4-992c-11e5-aca6-1ae3be6f06d2_story.html)_), the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health was having a banquet in the building when the shooting happened. Another article I read (I forget where, maybe LA Times) quoted anonymous sources with the FBI as saying that the banquet may have been the target. ---

This is consistent with a earlier report where a father said his daughter had escaped but had seen coworkers killed. He identified her as a “vector control officer” (i.e. someone who controls insect pests.) That’s one of the functions of the DPH. ---

So far this really doesn’t fall into any obvious slots. 3 guys takes out the disgruntled worker angle. The rather bland target and not very populated location (from the aerial shots anyway) seems odd as terrorism. Can’t imagine what would be worth stealing especially with such a high body count. Hopefully there are some security camera footage that helps the authorities figure this out. ---

IMO, an orchestrated mass shooting that targets local health-department officials does not make a **lot** more sense than an orchestrated mass shooting that targets developmentally disabled people. ---

Police are involved in a shootout with a dark SUV in a residential area. KABC is reporting one down (they showed a long gun lying on the ground) and one in the SUV who may be dead or playing possum. They have a dog which they may be sending in to pull the guy inside the SUV out. ---

There’s another location where KABC is reporting they have a guy in custody. The SUV at the other location apparently crashed into a truck and kept going, but somehow one of them got out at that point and was caught. ---
