Inspired by threads on the Dope, I hosted my own Miracle Fruit party last night.

I ordered the 5 gram packet from [miraclefruit.co.uk](http://miraclefruit.co.uk) (by the way–they say that as of today, they’re swamped with orders and having a hard time keeping up!), which was just the right amount for six people to take taste trips.

The powder itself has a pleasant, tangy, fruity taste. I wouldn’t mind miracle fruit-flavored hard candy, really, though a guest had the brilliant idea to make miracle fruit tongue strips, like the dissolving Listerine tongue strips. Anyway, we all held our doses of powder in our mouths for as long as possible, then started tasting.

Lemons and limes were palatable but still noticeably acidic.

Oranges, tangerines, and grapefruit were all wonderfully delicious.

Goat cheese and feta were, neither of them, noticeably changed–though we weren’t able to get our hands on a very tangy goat cheese in the first place.

Stout, India Pale Ale, and Campari were all modified in taste but still quite bitter in their own characteristic ways.

A bottle of white Pinot Grigio tasted like the very sweetest ice wine.

Coffee and chocolate were both big disappointments. With their bitter characters covered up, neither of them tastes like much. The 85% cocoa-content chocolate tasted like very weak milk chocolate without the creamy texture. Coffee tasted like almost nothing at all.

Plain yogurt tasted… a little sweet. It was nice.

The big surprise of the night was our experiment with tonic water, which is absolutely delicious while under miraculin. If’n y’all try miracle fruit, really do try some tonic water. I had a quart bottle of it, and we finished it between us.

Ohh, I’ll try the tonic water. I still have a packet and a half of miraclefruit left.
