Nor should you grant him any special latitude. GD is a no-holds-barred forum when it comes to the issues, and it’s the issues that have everybody so cranky here. It’s just that being in the Pit also encourages hitting below the belt, and that sure as heck ain’t gonna get us anywhere.

Below the belt? Particularly in the original thread, there was some nastiness (and I participated in it myself- though none was directed at Libertarian,) but I fail to see anything in the two recent threads that qualify as an attack below the belt, yet I was specifically accused of ‘bashing’ and being an advocate of tyranny.

OK. I did a hit-and-run, and made no contribution to the thread.
If I do it, I’m hitting below the belt.
If **Libertarian** does it, he _shall not_ be criticised. That’s how it works isn’t it? Correct me if I’m wrong.

I’m not accusing anyone of hitting below the belt, except **Desmo** and his “meltdown” comment.
C’mon, this is the _Pit_, fer cryin’ out loud. Let’s put this debate back where it belongs, huh?

Just to give you the heads up (and anyone else who’s interested), **Lib** ’s started a thread in IMHO: [Ask the Libertarian](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=151575).
Your example is already under discussion. Hopefully that thread will be more content-based.
