There have to be at least two sequels and you know it!
I’m not saying they’d be any good, mind you…

The BBC has just done a ten episode series of podcasts of Charles Dexter Ward. I haven’t listened to it, but it’s free.
The Case Of Charles Dexter Ward
What ever happened to Fredric Brown? He ought to be another Philip K. Dick, as far as the adaptability of his writing goes.
Aliens vs Predator, done with the first Dark Horse graphic novel story.
It’s set in the future on a colony outpost. A Predator ship swings by and seeds xenomorph eggs so the Predators can come and hunt them. The xenos infect the local wild life, and also the colonists. Surviving colonists are struggling to battle the xenos when the Predators come along and a three-way battle opens up. It’s a far better story than the horseshit coming out of Hollywood in these settings, and I think brings back some of the scary elements with both the xenos and Predators, which of late, has just become cartoony.
I agree. I’m a huge fan of Brown. Apparently they’ve done a few adaptations of his mysteries (one with Gypsy Rose Lee!), but I’ve never seen any of them.
They did a TERRIBLE adaptation of his novel Martian go Home!, and Star Trek did an “adaptation” of his story Arena that really wasn’t (which is why I list it above as one I’d really like to see). Besides that, Brown is, like Sheckley, one of the most ripped-off writers there is. I think his novel The Mind Thing (which he wrote as something to be filmed in Hollywood) got stolen by Outer Limits for one of their episodes.
I wouldn’t mind seeing a GOOD adaptation of The Mind Thing or The Screaming Mimi or The Fabulous Clipjoint or Knock 3 - 2 - 1. Or, of course, Arena.
I’d love to see a “Wild Wild West” movie, because I loved the TV show as a kid and there has never been a WWW movie.
No there has not! No, no, no, no, NO!!!
Today, people would probably throw a tantrum about cultural appropriation. I’d still like to see it. Especially if they used some of Jack Kirby’s designs for costumes and architecture.
Finieous Fingers. It should contain lots of homages to the classic modules, like the Temple of Elemental Evil, and the Giant/Drow/Queen of the Demonweb series.
Some of the second-string sword-and-sorcery characters, like Elric, Kyrik, and Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser.
Some of the old matinee serials, done as cable series. Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers, with a Game of Thrones budget. Dick Tracy or The Shadow, done with a Boardwalk Empire budget.
A movie where Fu Manchu and Nayland Smith are opponents, but both are sympathetic characters. Set it in a neutral country, with a scorpions-in-a-bottle scenario.
There is talk of Chris Hemsworth playing Doc Savage. I am less concerned with the actor. I want it to have a good writer and director.
An anthology series like Electric Dreams. Must include “The Moon For a Nickel”
Oh, I think it would be absolutely doable. It was pretty unnerving to humans in the books IIRC.
Good call on the Fafhrd and Gray Mouser stuff. I think the books’ somewhat tongue-in-cheek style and characterization of those two would lend themselves to action-comedy fantasy TV movies extremely well.
I know there’s been a lot of talk about it coming to film or TV, but John Scalzi’s “Old Man’s War” books could make for a good film, or better yet, a limited TV series a-la Game of Thrones.
And I’d LOVE a continuation of the Hornblower films.
Highlander II

“… if done right” is the unspoken assumption, correct?
Hyperion as a 8-part mini-series, 2-hour episodes each.
Of course there wasn’t. ![]()
I suspect the bigger problem would be that Hindus and Buddhists would find the story offensive - like, *really *offensive. I’ve been a fan of Zelazny since I was 9 years old, and while I love LoL, I reached the conclusion decades ago that it is sadly unfilmable.
Now, Creatures of Light and Darkness, on the other hand…
I never thought I needed a movie version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, until I saw this fan-made trailer for the (non-existent) movie Bel-Air, imagining what it would look like if Will Smith made it today.
This is professional-grade material. Someone needs to fund it now.
Maybe get Guillermo del Toro to direct?
Here’s the IMDb entry for Bad Blood, the Theranos movie:
Sorry I missed it!
Maybe “Sharknado 7”? Sharks on Proxima Centauri, or something?
There’s a book about this, and I recently heard on a C-SPAN interview with the author that a movie is in the planning stages, and guess who the studio wants for the lead?
I read Lord of Light long ago and it seemed like a pop western view of eastern philosophy at the time it was written. I mostly just rolled my eyes throughout the whole book.
I am not asking you to cite text or anything, but just wondering what about the story is blatantly offensive?
The Gatchaman anime is way due for a proper cinematic treatment IMO. If we can do 10 Avengers movies, Gatchaman could easily rate at least 2.
I’d like to see the original Dark Knight series by Frank Miller, done as a mini-series.
Also, Wild Cards, done as… something. Miniseries? Bunch of movies? Regular TV series?
