Another question about money

SuperNerd,

as far as I know, Parliament hasn’t enacted a reporting requirement for large cash transactions, but I think I read somewhere that it’s under consideration.

by the way, is a cashier’s cheque what we call a money order up here, or is that something different again?

Naw, a cashier’s check is not the same as a money order. For example, a money order says “MONEY ORDER” on it.

Money orders can be purchased at a bank, grocery store, post office, probably other places, too. Lots of people use them when they don’t have checking accounts.

Cashier’s checks, AFAICR, are issued by banks and are drawn from the issuing bank’s funds. For example, when I closed out my accounts at a previous bank, they issued a cashier’s check, payable to me, for the account balances.
