We’re all familiar with deja vu: eerie familiarity with something unfamiliar. And Joseph Heller, in _Catch-22_, mentions presque vu and jamais vu. A web search reveals: Jamais vu: never seen. Something familiar that seems totally strange. Presque vu: almost seen. A moment of clarity in which absolute truth is almost seen. Are there other vus? It seems that there should be – and is that, itself, a vu? The feeling that something should exist, although it doesn’t. * * * He thought he was the King of America, where they pour Coca-Cola just like vintage wine. ---

Randez vu: The feeling of not being sure if you were going to meet someone later or not. Asse vu: The feeling of not being sure if you had relations with that person or not. I’ll think of some more. ---

Psst, it’s Rendez Vu (actually Vous) And I’m not sure what you mean by Asse… perhaps Assez, meaning enough? As for other Vu’s, and isnt this just a great opportunity for humour? C’est a vu? The feeling that a less-than-desirable object couldn’t possibly belong to you… C’etait vu?
