Today is my 68th birthday. I never thought I’d live this long, nor did I ever especially want to. But now that I have, I kind of like it and hope I’ll live at least a little longer, if only to see if there is any improvement in our society when Bush leaves office. ---

Thanks for the good wishes. I was in a sour mood this morning but I’m feeling better now. There just seems to be something about turning 68 that I just don’t like. As I told my Darling Marcie, being 69 has an element of humor to it and turning 70 seems like a real milestone. Being 68, though, is kind of blah: its a nothing sort of number although I lived through some interesting times just getting to it. **Rascal’s Mom** , please extend my congratulations to your son; it seems a very short time ago that I was twenty-one and now my own son is twenty-eight. Tempus fugits in a very real way. ---
