- Or are those a little too close to human to count?

I would say some depictions of [Sun Wukong](http://vignette4.wikia.nocookie.net/leagueoflegends/images/4/48/Wukong_OriginalSkin.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20141030220436) would count.

Unless I’m misunderstanding the OP, there are plenty of examples of eg anthropomorphic apes. Magilla Gorilla. Also Ape of George of the Jungle.

King Kong may not qualify and I guess Kong of Donkey Kong won’t either. There are examples of humans turning into Apes in the Simpson’s as well as the alt comic _Zot!_.

> **[Gorillas in popular culture](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gorillas_in_popular_culture)**
>
> Representations of gorillas are common in popular culture in the Western world with the full range of electronic media having gorillas as mascots, gorillas behaving like humans, and humans behaving like gorillas.

To anthropomorphize something is just to ascribe human qualities to a thing that it doesn’t actually have. Apes are kinda humanlike in real life, sure, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make them _more human than they actually are_. A bear can walk on two legs in real life and can even wear a hat. That doesn’t mean that Yogi Bear isn’t an anthropomorphize.

[Captain Simian and the Space Monkeys](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Simian_%26_the_Space_Monkeys) was what I immediately thought of as an example of “anthropomorphized monkeys and apes”. A bunch of primates “evolved” to be more humanlike.

Phil Krubnuckle, the gorilla pharmacist, in “Doc Rat” comes instantly to mind.

The “Sonic the Hedgehog” team has an anthro gorilla and an anthro monkey.

Lots more examples.

Is anthropomorphizing only limited to humans?

Or can apes, monkeys, dolphins do it?

“Anthro-” means “human,” so no. A dolphin who made another animal more dolphin-like would be engaging in cetaceanomorphizing.
