Yes, we’re still interested. Right now the impression I have is that both Greece and the EU are just kicking the can down the road. While you can do this for a while; you can’t do it permanently–especially if there is another economic downturn.

> I think that you’ve summed up the Greece situation very nicely. Greece couldn’t manage it’s financial affairs. Other countries generously agreed to bail out Greece before Greece went bankrupt. Greece now wants to renege on it’s bailout agreements.
>
> The problem Greece now faces is that its potential benefactors are much less likely to loan money to a country that doesn’t want to live up to its past agreements. If you can’t trust the borrower (Greece) to repay its debts, it’s foolish for other governments to ask their taxpayers to bear an even greater load in order to loan Greece more money that may not be repaid.

You are putting words in his mouth, some of which are not true. The other Eurozone countries did not “generously” offer to bail out Greece. They did it in their own self-interest.

Well I would say it is both generous _and_ in their own self-interest, and that either term alone would be misleading.

If I help a neighbour put out a fire, there’s a degree of self-interest there, as if his house burns down mine will at least be damaged. But I’ve nevertheless helped my neighbour out a lot, and by doing something I would prefer to have not needed to do.
