Sorry. My bad. The article said, “By 2002, that figure had plummeted to 1.8 percent.” “That figure” referring to cases that went to trial. So I should have said, "98.2% **did not** go to trial. Usually I try to be pretty careful when I post, and that time fucked it up, not once, but twice. :smack: Thanks for pointing it out to me. ---

Why are you insisting that most cases (in general) are settled without a trial then? It’s not clear at all why you’re insisting on that, if you are then going to go on to say that child custody cases are a major exception to that general idea. No: it’s **not** a lie to say the majority of custody cases are settled without a trial. The majority of **all** legal cases are settled without a trial. It’s a lie to assert that that distinguishes custody cases from other legal cases; or to assert that because a case was settled, that makes the resulting settlement fair. ---
