I don’t think that it’s just a matter of projection ( although I’m sure it plays a part ); the idea that homosexual sex is a temptation to everyone is a widespread part of the anti-gay worldview ( at least in modern America ). After all, if it isn’t tempting then the pernicious homosexuals can’t tempt and corrupt and pervert the innocent heterosexuals into one of them. If they admit the truth, that straights just plain aren’t interested, then they lose a major part of their paranoid fantasies about homosexuals. ---

Of course, strictly speaking, sex with a member of the same sex doesn’t mean you’re necessarily gay. But unless there’s coercion or a sex worker who only has gay sex for the money or something, the null hypothesis is that you’re gay or at least bi. If someone voluntarily seeks out homosexual sex, especially repeatedly, then they’re deluded if they think they’re 100% straight. ---
