I’m waiting to hear that parents have an absolute right to decide what medical treatments their children will get . . . just ignore what’s already been said about parents allowing their children gender affirming medical care because somehow that’s totally different! ---

Adam & Eve\* may have had measles\*\* — and may have died from it — which makes measles and dying from it perfectly natural. But nobody in the Bible had “gender affirming medical care,” so that’s not natural. QED and cry me some sweet sweet tears, lib’rul! \* Not Adam & Steve. \*\* If they did, it was of course the woman’s fault. ---

I saw a meme that said “Jesus was unvaccinated” and I replied, “Yeah, and that’s one reason why the average life expectancy in that place and time was 33 years.” Pure vitamin A requires a prescription because the therapeutic index (i.e. the difference between the needed amount and the toxic amount) is so narrow. OTC vitamins use beta carotene, which the body converts to vitamin A as needed. Humorous anecdote: When I was a late 1970s tween, someone came out with “Tanning Pills”, which were, you guessed it, beta carotene. Taken as directed, in theory they would give the skin a bit of an orange glow. One of my classmates bought some and smuggled them into the house, and took a handful before going to bed. The next morning, she woke up pumpkin orange from head to toe (nope, no makeup lines like Mr. 8647 has) and her parents shoved her into the car and floored it to the nearest emergency room. When they walked in, the ER staff knew immediately what she had been up to. Thankfully, she had no other adverse effects from it, but it did take a number of days to fade. ---

Not to nitpick, but why not? The man in the Roueche story actually reporting consuming loads and loads of raw carrots and tomatoes (not juice), including having his wife constantly slicing them up for him to consume on a long road trip. Amusingly, neither he nor his wife noticed that his skin had turned an orange hue, and he showed up at the surprised doctor’s office with an entirely different complaint. To be even more pedantic, eating lots and lots of carrots can turn your skin yellow (xanthoderma) and binging on tomatoes can produce a reddish skin color, so if you gorge on both carrots and tomatoes, you might get to be Orange Man (or Woman). Take a ton of colloidal silver at the same time, and I suppose you could turn green and get a job as the Jolly Green Giant. ---

The last known cases of smallpox in the U.S. were spread in a similar manner.
