# Any Beastie Boys fans in the house?

I recently watched the Beastie Boys’ DVD video anthology, and it’s reawakened my love for them (and my ardent crush on Adam Horovitz, but that’s for another thread).
So, I’ve just spent the better part of an afternoon watching all their live performances on YouTube (in another window, I’m watching them [perform “Right Right Now Now”](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9Z7DcuWHSU) on Conan O’Brien _as I type_!). They’re good, yo. Mix Master Mike? Scratch King of the Universe.
[This interview](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoB8Ur8yFLE) made me realize I’ve really got to buckle down and find legal way to marry all three of them.
Who here is a fan? Ever see them live? What are your favorite albums/cuts (joints, if you will)? Did you see “Awesome! I Fucking Shot That”?

I would submit that Licence to Ill and Ill Communication are by far their best albums.

Sabotage was indeed a great video. In my top 10.
I love the Beastie Boys. “Licensed to Ill” was a landmark work.

You know, I was going to argue with that and offer some other suggestions, but…I…can’t. At least speaking for this band, no, you’re right – that is their greatest music video.

I was a big Beastie Boys fan from Cookie Pus on. I saw them live once, in a club setting with henry Rollins. It was just… awesome.
I have their whole collection on my iPod, and still listen sometimes. Sabotage, and pretty much the whole Paul’s Botique album are my favorites.

Huge fan, since Some Old Bullshit.
I highly recommend their CD “The In Sounds From Way Out” from 1996. It contains all instrumental tracks, a couple from other albums, most unique to concerts and that album. All jazzy-styled tunes played by themselves.

Yeah, you really can’t go wrong with any of the first three of there records. Ill Communication is good, too, but Check Your Head is a cut above, and I’d say Paul’s Boutique is their finest. Although, of all the albums, I listen to Check Your Head the most.

I want to report that I’ve now seen “Awesome, I Fucking Shot That!” and I recommend it. True, the quick cuts were kind of … headache-inducing a lot of the time, but the concept of the movie is pretty nifty and I’m impressed that they were able to edit all the footage together into a reasonably cohesive film.
I also recommend watching it with the band commentary, because not only are they very cute, but you get to hear Adam Yauch talk about editing/effects/putting the thing together, etc., so the commentary is fairly informative as well as entertaining.
I’m also left with the impression that if I went to one of their concerts, I’d be kinda scared of the fans – I’m not nearly hardcore enough.
And I thought it was hilarious that (according to the commentary) when people were filming Ben Stiller rocking out, his wife told him to stop dancing because he was on camera. **Dude**. Let the man dance when he feels it!

I’ve always liked the Beastie Boys, but I have to disagree on the best album. It will always be Paul’s Boutique for me.
