# Any gift-wrapping services in Portland (OR)?

I’ve picked up some Christmas presents and my fine motor skills have deteriorated significantly since the last time I wrapped presents. I’m getting a little tired of the old gift bag-and-tissue paper method of presenting gifts. So I want to find a place where I can bring the items and pay someone to box and wrap them.
Don’t need answer _FAST_, but in the next couple of days would be nice.

I’ve only ever seen gift wrapping offered at the store where you buy the gift (and it’'s not as commmon as it used to be). If I were you, I’d try Task Rabbit or something similar.

This was going to be my suggestion: Fiverr or something. @kaylasdad99 is Kayla not comfortably in her 20s now? Can she not wrap either? Or is the present for her?

I suppose I could, but I’d have to FedEx the gifts to Brooklyn where she can wrap them and then she’d have to FedEx them back to me and that just seems like a huge pain in the ass

You might consider holiday gift bags. They come in all sizes and various materials. Some are foil bags that look really nice. They are really easy to use. Some will have a ribbon at the top which you can just sinch to close.

There are some really nice gift bags that are shiny foil that look like wrapping paper. They aren’t a paper bag with tissue. For instance:

Do people go to malls anymore? When I was younger, there would be stations at the mall around Christmas time that would wrap gifts for people for a small fee.

Are there malls anymore?
Gift wrapping is my job in our house. My drafting skills really help there. My wife once bought me some snow shoes and just wrapped them in a towel. I kinda understand that. It would be tough to wrap snowshoes.
For the OP I would just go to the gift bag suggestion, if that’s possible.

I also live in Portland. Does anyone wrap packages movie/tv style? By this, I mean the way presents are usually, er, “presented” in the media-top is wrapped separately from the bottom so that it could be lifted up without tearing the wrapping.

I think Girl Scout troops also do gift wrapping as fundraisers. But probably not this late.

Pffth, I just scored five big gift bags in nice decorative foil colors at the local Dollar Tree. DT is the place for wrapping materials, especially for those of us who Refuse To Wrap.

Are you asking if there are any stores that do that or people? I used to donate to a charity that collected gifts for women in shelters and the boxes had to be wrapped that way ( so that the boxes could be checked for unacceptable items)

I do like holding on to the bags for gifts I got so I can reuse them. If for no other reason, so I don’t have to remember to buy more next year.
This year, I went a little overboard on one person’s. She big fan of I Think You Should Leave and recently happened to mention the Zipline episode:

I would have preferred finding a Scout troop or an elementary school band doing a fundraiser at the local mall. Unfortunately, my local mall is the moribund Lloyd Center (@Czarcasm knows what I’m talking about), so that’s right out.

I was tired of wrapping. The grandkids are getting some junk stuffed in a medium cheapo($1) stockings.(Not the ones hanging.) Closed up with a ribbon.
The stocking wrapped gifts caused quite the stir around here. Plus they make me giggle sitting under the tree.
Looks like there’s big feet and Santa is hiding in the tree. Bayliss even barked at it. He realized his mistake at soon as he sniffed them.
