Part 1 was very interesting, I’ll be back for part 2.
I agree with River Hippie and will be back tonight. Disney came across as a nice uncle but what happened last night showed a dark side.
Anybody else watching it? I enjoyed the first two eps.
PBS is promoting the living bejeezus out of its upcoming Civil War drama “Mercy Street” which looks more than a little soap-opera-ish but like toast pakora said about “Indian Summers” I expect the clothes, sets, and scenery to be first-rate. Plus I’m sure like “Downton Abbey” and “Mr. Selfridge” they’ll work a lot of real-life people and events into the story.
My local PBS station has started running “Detectorists” written by and starring MacKenzie Crook (Gareth on the original “The Office”, and I guess he was in those “Pirates” movies). A sweet little light comedy that runs six episodes or so. I watched it on AcornTV and enjoyed it.
Arthur and George put me to sleep.
We’re watching Indian Summers, and Home Fires, which is of more interest to my wife than to me, but the acting is decent. It’s about a women’s league during WWII, with all of the standard characters you would expect.
I saw an episode, and it was cute. Not hilarious, though. I will probably catch a couple more episodes to see if it “catches”.
Have you seen it yet?
It’s absolutely awful.
One program I forgot is The Widower, a three part drama based on actual events and people.
Oh man, it’s become a phenomenon. a quarter of the (UK) population watched the final and broke al kinds of records for this type of show. I saw a few but really enjoyed the Final itself, and I’ve only ever baked a potato ![]()
While Vicious is starting its second season and isn’t a new show, I want to double down on the hate.
This is an incredibly poorly done show. Its like watching some crappy 60s Britcom warmed over with gay guys.
Apologists have written essays explaining how you have to understand the show in the context of British humor. I’ve been watching British shows since the early 60s. Good and bad. Context actually hurts the enjoyment. You know that they could have done a much better show.
