The Royal Family of Amber vs. the Royal Family of the Courts of Chaos.
Amber-White (I guess)
King- Oberon
Queen- Did he have a wife…? Been awhile, hehe.
Knight1- Corwin
Knight2- Eric
Bishop1- Benedict
Bishop2- Bleys
Rook1- Caine
Rook2- Gerard
Pawns- Any other sisters/brothers
(I seem to have forgotten nearly every female so I’m sure there are some of the sisters that could be more intelligently placed… Bleys as a bishop…?)
Courts- Black
King- WHAT was that guy’s name…
Queen- Dara, I guess.
Knight1-
Knight2-
Bishop1- Mandor
Bishop2-
Rook1-
Rook2-
Pawns-
Hey, wow, super, I can’t remember any of the siblings from the Courts… that’s weak, but you get the point. sigh Maybe I should crack the books before posting. Oh well.
I used to have (probably still have somewhere) a Henry VIII set - Henry as King, a generic any-one-of-his-wives as Queen, and Wolsey as Bishop. The rest were nicely modelled but not particularly identifiable. The blacks were definitely made out of groovy wood - I think I was supposed to believe the whites were ivory, but for £35 I don’t think so.
Couldn’t afford the funky board.
I recently saw a set made up of different sizes and shapes of shot glasses. The idea being that whenever you take a piece, you drink its contents. Evens things up a bit.
Albert, I actually have someone makeing me an Amber themed chess set.
Amber (green): Oberon had many wives, which makes using him difficult. We’re going with Random and Vialle as King and Queen. Benedict and Corwin are Knights (Eric, Deirdre and Caine are considered dead in this set), Bleys and Fiona are Bishops. The Rooks are Llewella and Flora. The pawns are Martin and some PC characters of mine. Gerard does not play the Family game, so he is being depicted on the box as Guardian
For Chaos (Red-for the Serpent): Swayville as the King and as no Queeen is mentioned, we make She Who Wanted to Be Queen fill that role, Dara. Knights will be Duke Borel and another Hendrake. Mandor and as yet unnamed female equivilant are the Bishops. The Rooks are assorted Chaos demoms and Merlin, Jurt, Luke are Pawns, filled in with assort other PC characters I have known.
On either end of the board, I am painting Dworkin and Suhay as the Masters, overseeing it all.
Damn it all, I forgot Julian in that last post. (Grumble)
Julian is being made up as a Knight also. I’ll probably use him instead of Corwin, as I don’t much care for Corwin and he’s off in the Universe of his Pattern anyway.
We considered making an Arden set based on another game I’m in with Julian as the King with all the Rangers as Pawns, but we couldn’t come up with a good opposition.
