No. They have found many of them. Detailed analysis has shown that they have many physical attributes that indicate that they are a new species. The mind blowing thing is that regular homo sapien inhabitants of the Indonesian islands have always talked about them and claim that they were there 100 years ago or even more recent. They even tell descriptions of the funny ways that they talked. I believe that current Discover and National Geographic magazines have extensive articles on them and why they are considered a new species.
New Scientist is great for this stuff. Comes out weekly, mostly available on the web. At least once each issue, I’m mildly surprised, as in: “Damn. How’d they figure out how to do that?”
