I’ve got an iPhone, which means I have the earbuds that came with it. I hate Apple’s earbuds with a passion usually reserved for mass-murderers. I bought a pair of Shure noise-isolation headphones with the integrated mic/control which I like very much, but for walking around on the street they’re not ideal; I lose a lot of my ability to hear cars, other pedestrians, etc. I’d like to be able to use non-noise-isolating/canceling headphones with my iPhone, yet still have all of the control options on the Shure and Apple headphones.

I’ve seen a few adapters on the market (like [this one from Griffin](http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/smarttalk) and [this one from Monster](http://www.monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=4571), but while they do most of what I want them to do, I see no mention of volume control.

So - anyone aware of an adapter like these that also includes the ability to control volume?

I got an adapter off amazon for very little money. It has a volume control, but I wouldn’t recommend using it. As it slides, one earphone or the other will completely cut out. As long as you keep it on full volume, it works fine. I really only wanted the button, so I am happy with it.
