# Any MADs participating in the AIDS walk this Saturday (10/4)?

Last weekend, I signed up for the AIDS walk to benefit the [Whitman-Walker Clinic,](http://www.wwc.org/) a local nonprofit medical center that specializes in HIV testing and the treatment of AIDS and opportunistic disease, especially for the poor and folks who have no health insurance.
The walk happens this Saturday (October 4/11), and it would be very cool if any MADs who wanted to would come out and support the walkers (including me).

In addition, if any Dopers (not merely DC Dopers but from anywhere in the world) wanted to contribute financially, please e-mail me and I’ll send you the contact info. Because Whitman-Walker is organizing this year’s walk themselves instead of hiring an outside organization like PalottaWorks, all donations will be used for their intended recipients instead of going to a rakeoff for charity profiteers—like PalottaWorks.

**gobear** , it’s not a lack of enthusiasm. It’s just that yours is the third MAD activity scheduled for this Saturday, and the [other](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=206299) [two](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=209218) have had threads here for a month or more.
