> **Lamia** , doesn’t the most important conversation in _Sister Act_ pass the reverse test? The reason they’re in the convent is because they’re in Witness Protection, because they witnessed a conversation between a couple of mobsters.

Probably, but I couldn’t swear to it based on my memory of the movie. I haven’t seen it in 20+ years, and don’t remember the specifics of that conversation or much about the non-nun part of the story.

I just came from a screening of _Lady Bird_, which passes the looser version of the test but possibly not the stricter version. Lady Bird’s father, Larry, has two conversations with other men that are related to work and don’t mention women at all. One is a job interview where the interviewer is unnamed (he’s credited as “Business Jock”). Larry then has a brief but significant exchange with his son Miguel, but it may have been less than a minute long. There’s also a minor scene where Lady Bird’s boyfriend Danny meets both her parents, but the part where he and Larry introduce themselves to each other doesn’t take long.
