Yesterday I e-mailed ITV about this advert , and this is their reply :- \*Thank you for your recent email regarding the above named advert. The current advertisement by Jamster is an intense, short campaign which has taken more slots than usual but please be assured that your comments have been duly noted on the Duty Log which is viewed on a daily basis by our senior management. May I take this opportunity to thank you once again for taking the time to contact us here at ITV. Kind regards ITV DUTY OFFICE \* So , in other words, hard luck. We’re getting lots of dosh from Jamstar and we don’t care a fuck about the viewers. I know of other people who have contacted ITV and this is the standard reply (with identical content) they are all receiving. ---

It actually seems to be somewhat less exposed recently. They had the habit of putting this obnoxious ad on at the beginning of every ad break and also at the end. Not only did they do that, but it seemed to linger on the screen after the ad itself had finished, like it was waiting to load up the next part of the tv schedule. I also hate that utterly shite bird thingy, not cute, not twee, just fucking rubbish. I wonder if this culture has escaped into the charts, because that fucking shitty arse song, “I’m so lonely” (dunno if its really called that BTW) that hit the top of the charts seems to have a ‘made specifically for cellphone’ ringtone hook to it, with its speeded up pinky and perky type sound. Fuck me, songs that go ‘straight to cellphone’, its worse than ‘straight to video’ films. Its almost even worse that they take a pretty wank musical genre (IMHO) - rap, and try to make this retarded song have some kind of urban cool. ---

That was nothing specific about this advert - just more noticeable because your teeth were grating! The selection of adverts varies across ITV regions, so there’s sometimes a second or two difference which has to be caught up. ---

We also get this shit in Australia. Last time I saw this ad was at the gym yesterday and I recall thinking: 1. some arsehole is probably retiring early on the back of this incredibly moronic, annoying shit; and 2. if that guy was in the room right now I would have to restrain myself from strangling him. ---

I know what you mean, everytime I go to the gym these adverts are on, fortunately I don’t actually know anyone sad enough to actually possess on eof these ring tones. Needless to say if I did they would rapidly be removed from my list of friends. Haven’t noticed the frogs gentitalia, but that’s mainly because I find the adverts so nauseating that I don’t watch them properly. ---

The song is Axel F - from Beverley Hills Cop (ie. Axel Foley’s theme tune). Costs are better than the £2.50 noted above - you actually ‘join’ the club to get the ringtone, membership is £3 a week. After complaints (with little kids ringing up massive bills and a mention on GMTV, they now say £6 a fortnight?! ---

They are incredibly annoying and there are more of them each day!!! This is one of the reasons I am recording everything to harddisk nowadays, so I can ffwd through this crap. No more live television for me. ---

I thank that frog, as it is the only thing I know which makes me switch off the TV in disgust, and makes me curse the modern world and feel justified in it. If that frog was real, I’d find out what comical sound it would make with a bike-pump jammed up its arse… ---

Yea - that’s what the endless sea of adverts has driven me to also when I can. Sadly, as my exposure to the frog shows, it isn’t always possible. I am cheered by the news that morons who like this sort of crap are being throughly screwed though. ---

The thing is that more and more people will stop watching tv altogether or will Tivo or record it to harddisk so they can ffwd. So the commercials are missing their mark. Maybe this will eventually cause the end of tv advertising? Or at least for big-budget quality commercials. ---

Advertisers and those that sell them say they’ve factored this in apparently. They make 'em so that you get the product and the key image on fast forward. That’s why you have to go the whole hog and screw your eyes up at the same time you ff. ---

Ugh, I haven’t hated a commercial like this one since the Time Life series commercials (which STILL pop-up occasionally). They truly put me off of the music channels I’ve been watching at that point. They piss me off so royally much that i often takes me a year or more before I try becoming a regular viewer again. And now this frog, which is just the latest in the trend started by the little pink Rhino wagging its behind. This Frog is horrible, all the more because it uses a sample stolen from an old webpage gag with a Ferrari F1 and then some guy imitating the sound of one driving in a dorky manner - I think the original ‘voice actor’ was an Italian. I almost wish I knew that guy, could contact him, and then pray that Jamster had somehow overlooked purchasing the rights for this sample. Bleh. ---
