Just curious. I was going to post a poem but the last few forums that I frequented outside of my bubble of sites got ripped to tell from people ten years my senior. Apparently angsty teen poetry isn’t for everyone. 😉 All jokes aside, if you’re a writer/poet, how long have you been doing it and well, post a new piece if you’d like and hopefully I’ll get up the courage to post mine. ---

I have been known As the Oh-So-Close Poet, For I’ll make near-rhymes And not even be aware of it In everyday speak I’ll use words quite exotic– Something my wife thinks is very sexy But alas! I forget to record all this verse. My poor memory is a perpetual annoyance. So instead I just live a life that’s quite mellow, instead of becoming another Yeats or Wordsworth. ---

Very creative. 🙂 Have yourread any works by Yeats, Poe, Dickinson, Whitman or Plath? Those are my favorite writers. ---

I am a poet/writer but I am afraid to post here for a few reasons. 1. I posted on another website, and some one accused me of stealing someone else’s work, claiming they had sworn they had read it somewhere else. 2. I am afraid someone will steal my work. 3. I don’t want it to be critiqued, especially if everyone thinks it’s horrible. Yeah, one of these days I will work up the nerve to submit my work. This really is my dream. To make money as a writer. 😃 ---

I write a lot. See? Actually, I do consider myself a writer (my freinds and family are more responsible for this distinction than I am). I write lots of sarcastic short stories and humorous ramblings and noticings. I’d post a snippet, but it’s getting late and I’m a little too scared. Anyone else going to step up to the plate? ---

I can’t say I read much poetry (though I probably should). The collections I have at home are Yeats, Wallace Stevens, and cummings, plus several Norton Anthologies from the college days. We also read Longfellow at our wedding, so I’ve got a soft spot there, too. ---

On the occasion of my father’s stroke I’m writing speeches for my father’s wake, deciding how I’ll hold my hands and head while speaking calmly of the newly dead. Enunciating grief without mistakes. I will not pull away if strangers break my spine in crushing hugs, attempt to thread their fingers through my own. I will not dread their platitudes or pity, and will make myself a smiling puppet. Casseroles will bring me solace. I will never cry in public, nor permit my hands to tremble, nor fuss when dripping calla lily bowls leave lasting rings on the piano. I will be as still as that man I resemble. ---

I write for a living…but it’s all for a bio-tech company. I’ve also written other things for pay, such as: News stories Fiction Advertisments Hmm…basically anything that can be written.
