I want to buy a small Homedics type of indoor water fountain for my bedroom to help sleep. I’m seeking one that produces a natural water sound and doesn’t have a noisy water pump. Any recommendations for brand/model? Oh, and I’ll most likely buy it online.

If you really need physical water, I can’t help you. If it’s just sound you’re after, HoMedics has several [noise machines](http://www.homedics.com/soundspar.html) that simulate ocean, brook, rain, etc…

Also, an air filter makes a nice rushing/white noise sound and cleans your air at the same time.

We have a small white noise machine that has several sounds. I prefer the rushing water and Mistermage prefers the white noise setting. I hate that one! If it’s just me in bed I can hear 3 tones that regularly sound, white noise, white noise, 3 tones. And that drives me bonkers. I solved the problem by only going to bed after him so his snoring would mask the distraction.

The best part about the machine is it has battery back-up power. That was great the night the power went out.

The problem with using an actual fountain is that the pumps do wear out or get clogged. Some of them you can take apart but some have the pump sealed so you can’t fix anything.
