My friends and I are a bunch of self-described music snobs. If they knew I had the following artists on my iPod I would be laughed at and derided for an extended period of time: AC/DC Billy Idol Blink 182 Falco Goo Goo Dolls Prince Tears For Fears Zamfir How about you? Is there anything on your iPod that would invoke the contempt of your friends? ---

Depends on the friends. Some of mine would mock the growly-voiced death/black/heavy metal I have on it, like Lamb of God. Others, probably Scissor Sisters’ remake of “Comfortably Numb,” or Cobra Starship’s “Bring It (Snakes on a Plane),” the song with video that plays over the film’s closing credits. ---

I guess it would be some of these: Various Commodore 64 game songs “Shiny Shiny” by Hayzee Fantayzee Most of the first Wham! album, _Fantastic_ The Carpenters’ Greatest Hits I still stand behind the integrity of these songs, but the inadvertent cheese that comes with it makes it difficult… ---

I certainly have some stuff on my iPod that would raise, erm, questions from some of my friends: Bette Midler - “The Divine Miss M” (the entire album) Broadway Musical Soundtracks such as: - Les Miserables,10th Anniv. Cast Recording - The original Les Miserables “Concept Album” (in French) - The Phantom of the Opera, original cast recording - The Little Shop of Horrors, original cast recording - Jesus Christ Superstar (Side ref. to a recent thread on “surprise gym workout songs from iPod shuffle”: “Heaven On Their Minds”, as sung by Judas, is a terrific song for running to.) - Evita Not one but both of the Soundtrack CDs for “Moulin Rouge!” Kylie Minogue songs Cyndi Lauper, “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” While I have not gotten any comments yet I don’t fear any. I am well secure in my manliness, since I work out at the gym all the time, which I get to by riding my Vespa motor scooter. I will also note that I recently deleted Aqua’s “Barbie Girl” song from my iPod, as well as the “Ace of Base” songs that somehow got onto there. ---

Hawkins “Son of a Preacher Man” - Melissa Etheridge “Barrier Reef” - Old 97s “B **ches Ain’t S** t” by Dr. Dre as covered by Ben Folds Five. I’m really not a gangsta rap kind of girl and I think the lyrics are terrible but the cover is too funny. (Am I allowed to say b **ches and s** t in CS?)
