When Mr VOW and I bought our land in AZ and then enventually retired to live there, the back of my mind was jumping up and down and saying “Sundial! Sundial!” I’ve always loved sundials, ever since I was a little kid.
A WHOLE LOTTA life has gotten in the way since we retired, but I haven’t forgotten the little spark of an idea. Thank you so much for collecting all this eclectic assortment of data and posting it here, just for my perusal!
To the OP (and anyone else who is interested, the next time you are in London check out the Sundial Trail at the Horniman Museum
I’m no sundial expert, but I really liked the stained glass dial, because it’s positioned outside the building but is meant to be read from the inside.
Here is my sundial from Daniel Wenger. There’s no fiduciary in the picture but the sphere is approx 10% smaller than a volleyball.
I also visited the analemmatic sundial on the CalTech campus. And then when I went to the Sierra College campus, the one that used to be there… isn’t anymore. That happens. I’ll have to update the registry.
