A few years ago, the FDA banned the import of several generics manufactured by the pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy, because of rampant fraud at the company. Cefuroxime was one of those. Perhaps that incident has stuck in this pharmacist’s mind and been magnified over time.
This is an on-going issue. FDA just wrapped the fourth Ranbaxy plant into the consent decree.
