His dancing gimmick was always there, he would even shout “fiesta!” and try to get us all to chant with him (which usually worked tbh). So it’s not that he’s black and loves to dance, but he’s foreign (but not _mean_ foreign). ---

I found out today that there’s going to be a joint ROH/New Japan pay-per-view in Vegas this August, right around the time I take my annual vacation out there. Guess who’s got ringside seats for both nights? This guy. 🙂 ---

A good showing last night from King Size and Fun Size. I love how King Size (whichever one that is…Anderson I think) is basically just Kevin Nash. I won’t be able to quote it, or even probably paraphrase it accurately, but at one point last night Cole said (in reference to AJ/Doc/Karl) something to the effect of “This is a an old bond that will never be broken!” So obviously King and Fun are turning on AJ Sunday 😛 ---

It kind of gives an in for Punk to come back, should hell freeze over. I actually think AJ will turn heel in yet another effort to get RR over as a babyface. Notice how Cole said they were in a “club” and not “Bullet Club”? Maybe it’s a royalty thing since RoH sells Bullet Club merch, but at least they mention “New Japan” and “IWGP.” ---

Oh, come now. We all know what’s going to happen. Gallows and Anderson will turn on AJ at Payback, leading to Finn Balor being called up to team with AJ against G/A at the May PPV… At which point, Balor will promptly turn on AJ, and (re)form the Bullet/Balor Club with Anderson and Gallows. And thereby completing AJ Styles’ reincarnation as Sting. ---

ROH has a talent-sharing agreement with New Japan which allows them to use it. ---

The trios tournament final on Lucha Underground last night was a real barn-burner. Team Mysterio picks up the win after Dario announced that Angelico had “somehow” been injured. Striker and Vampiro seemed to be having a lot of fun with each other calling this show. A few choice bits; Vampiro: “I feel like I need a shower after just watching Joey Ryan.” Vampiro: “Is there a pro wrestler in the world who’s stronger than Cage?” Striker: “I don’t know. I only watch Lucha Underground.” Vampiro: “When all else fails, poke him in the eye or kick him in the balls.” Striker: “What if you kick him in the eye and poke him in the…? never mind.” Only one taped segment this time - a post credits scene where Darth Vampiro visits Pentagon Jr. (who’s now in a wheelchair after being manhandled by Matanza) and pours molten wax on him while commanding him to get up. Pentagon tries and falls flat on the floor, and Vampiro symbolically cuts Pentagon’s throat with his finger and vanishes leaving him there alone. I have a feeling the student is getting fed up with his master. ---

\*BAHWANNNGAAAhHHHHH BAAAANNNNHHHH\* **Cage in a cage!** Cage matches usually suck. Not this time. Johnny Mundo and Cage are in-ring geniuses. Taya made for excellent heel cheating, sneaking in a kendo stick, throwing Johnny a chair, and finally just coming all the way in to fuck with Cage. At one point, Johnny could have won the match. He was on top of the cage and could have dropped out, but he elected to do a corkscrew splash on Cage and ate the mat instead. Eventually, both villains tried to make Cage eat the chair, but Stoo Jitsu took over and Cage got the win. Doesn’t LU usually do two takes of each match? That would explain why they look so polished. **4-team Elimination Tournament for the Trios belts** Before the match, evil LU owner Dario Cueto announced Angelico wouldn’t be in the match because he had to go to the hospital. No doubt this will lead to a future storyline as Angelico gets revenge on the party responsible, but dammit, I wanted to see him do another 30-foot drop! Normally, 11 people with 4 in the ring at a time would be a huge clusterfuck, but somehow the LU bookers made it look like Swan Lake. At the beginning, 2 pairs of luchas would grapple each other as teams, then transition to a switch. DAAAAA DAAAA DAA DA DAAAA! Then, future storylines would bud. Joey Ryan would tangle up with Ivelisse, she would get bitchy mad at his attempts to seduce her, and clock him side the head with her heavy metal heels. Jack Evans also had a turn with her, then proclaimed to the audience, “That’s not Lucha Underground’s biggest bitch! I’M Lucha Underground’s biggest bitch!” Ivel gave him castrating looks. Anyhoo, with this many Luchas, strike bowling inevitably ensues. About 5-6 of them lined up to somersault off the ring and/or ropes to collide with the bodies on the floor. One right after the other. A performance worthy of rose petal tossing. Finally, two teams were left: Rey Rey, Azteca Jr Jr, and Prince Puma vs Jack Evans, PJ Black, and Fenix. Again, Puma makes my jaw drop with his displays of strength. He pressed PJ overhead, then let go and delivered an instant Turnstyle kick to the side of PJ’s head as he dropped. Rey Rey got off his signature 619 on Evans and got the win. New Trios champs! So good to see Rey in his element here. He never really fit in with WWE, but competing with guys his size and speed makes him look like a grandmaster. After the show, time for black magic. Vampiro’s dark side has emerged and he’s dressed as Emperor Palpatine. He summons Pentagon Jr forth, who emerges in a wheelchair, selling Matanza breaking his back a few weeks ago. Vampiro lights a black candle and commands Pent to rise. RISE! Pent can’t move, so Vamp drips hot wax on his back. Rise. RISE! Pent grunts and moans and finally falls over face first on the floor. Vamp looks at him dismay as the ending bass notes chime. \*BAHWANNNGAAAhHHHHH BAAAANNNNHHHH\* ---

A “far east” faction would be awesome. Point of Trivia from last night: The Alliyah from last night is actually Nooph (from Breaking Ground) and was not originally her name. Alliyah was someone else who, I’m assuming, now has a new name since Nooph just stole that one. ---

It’s being reported today that Sinclair Broadcasting, the company that owns Ring of Honor, is one of the groups interested in buying out TNA. This might actually be a best-case scenario for everyone involved; have Sinclair take control of the company, fire Dixie and her cronies, drop the TNA name and fold it into ROH (maybe keep the six-sided ring and some of their specialty matches for certain shows), and ROH gets to pick up Drew McIntyre and James Storm and the Hardys and the handful of other wrestlers TNA still has on the payroll that are worth a tinker’s dam.
