So… where does this leave Roman Reigns? He’s had three title shots against Brock and blown them all. It’d be pretty silly for the fourth time to be the charm. Has Vince finally resigned himself to the fact that, even in front of a crowd of marks who’re happy just to be able to go to a show in their home country, Roman’s never going to get the entire crowd on his side? I’m guessing that either Braun is going to be the one to beat Brock at Summerslam, or they’ll hold up the title over the “controversial” finish and have some kind of tournament. Another question that’s going to have to be answered; what’s the deal with the “Greatest Royal Rumble Championship” belt Braun won? Is it just a commemorative belt? Is he going to have to defend it? Is it good for half-off at Wendy’s? I enjoyed the show overall, even if I had to wake up at 8 AM after working until midnight the night before in order to watch it. I was a little baffled by the behavior of the Saudi royals in the primo seats, who seemed to be milling about, coming and going, and paying little attention to the match, as if they were there to be seen rather than to actually see the show. (I did, however, crack up laughing when the hard cam caught a brief glimpse of the royal butler carrying a champagne goblet full of milk on a silver tray.) ---

Nah, the belt came from the Saudis. It’s good for 3 cents off per gallon at all Aramco gas stations. 😛 Honestly I would not be surprised if that became the NXT Middle East Championship. NXT looks to be expanding to regional promotions, each having their own championship, ala the North American belt just introduced. Of course, that will take a good 5+ years to get off the ground over there, assuming it ever actually happens. ---

They’re going to spin it as a screwjob finish to give Reigns another shot. You could tell by the way Cole repeated several times “both feet have to hit the ground.” Going by that, Reigns clearly won, as Lesnar was still on the cage. ---

Here’s something kinda cool and fun. Mrs. Cups and I have an Instagram about Orlando (you’ll recognize it as the one in my sig) and we’ve recently had one of the lesser-known referees from WWE start liking our wrestling pics. He started by liking a pic of ours from Impact forever ago and just now liked the one we did from the house show this past week. He was even at the show. Our next goal is to do enough posts for him to actually follow us and then we’ll message him the next time a show is about and see if we can get something cool out of it. ---

Looks like Sami Zayn was kept out of GRR for political reasons. He’s a Syrian activist, and the Saudi Royals don’t play that. So he got replaced with Hornswoggle. If I was in the front row of RAM tonight, I’d have a sign pointing that out, purely for smark cred. ---
