Well, the Revival are going to be wrestling the Rock & Roll Express at an indie show next month, which is probably going to make Jim Cornette the happiest he’s been since 1983. Ex: Yeah, Angelica Risk planted hard on the back of her neck. Jeff Hardy has been released. Apparently he showed up drunk for a house show match over the weekend, stumbled out of the ring partway through a tag match, was sent home, and was let go after refusing to enter rehab. Alcoholism is a hell of an addiction, and this isn’t the first time this has happened to him- hopefully this time he gets the help he needs. ---

Agreed. Rumor making the rounds on several dirt sheets (don’t know the original, but they all just repeat what one says) as of this posting is that Jeff Hardy was known to occasionally drink but not so it would interfere with his work (at least before this incident). Also making the rumor rounds among asshat fans is that Hardy staged this so that he could go work with his brother in 90 days. ---

It has never been and will never be a good idea, yet the Vince’s (Russo & McMahon) can’t seem to leave it be. Don’t forget, they did the same to Road Warrior Hawk. “In good taste” is not in McMahon’s vocabulary. ---

Hook, son of Taz, made his debut on this past Rampage, and he killed it. Up until now, he had been accompanying other Tazmates to the ring wearing a hoodie. He didn’t do any of the high-flyer flipadoos that guys of his size and build usually do. Instead, he did a lot of mat wrestling holds and counter-holds with speed and crispness. Fuego didn’t have to carry him too much. The audience liked him and started chanting “Hook is gonna kill you.” Since Team Taz is now feuding with Dante Martin and Lio Rush, Hook should have some good matches with those two. He hasn’t done much in the way of mic work yet, but he should have learned something from his old man by now. ---

Mic work doesn’t necessarily pass through the generations. Dusty’s and Ric’s kids don’t compare to their dads (though Dustin was pretty damn good at character work), and Rocky Johnson’s kid is far, far better than his dad ever was. The only Armstrong who could cut a promo was/is Road Dogg (Brian, I think), but patriarch Bullet Bob was solid. Randy is better than Cowboy Bob Orton. All that said, Hook’s presentation was phenomenal. Not that he ever would, but Vince & co. should pay attention to the way AEW is building people like Hook, MJF, Jungle Boy, Darby Allen, and even the second-level talent like Dante Martin, Lee Moriarity, and others. It’s not rocket science. The old formula still works. ---

Hook has been doing the silent glowering assassin thing since he first started appearing ringside, so he doesn’t really need mic skills right now. Besides, Ricky Starks is the Team Taz primadonna and would get the most mic time anyhow. Wardlow’s been doing the same role for MJF, and that’s how Bautista got his start. AEW hasn’t pushed their young talent aside in scooping up WWE’s castoffs. I’m convinced Sammy Guevara is going to run his own fed some day. ---

It was a mistake, because I was waving to my uncle in the third row wearing the red shirt. Sorry Dash! Ex: _laughs_ Taz: It happens. You know how it is bro. … Taz: Sorry, I was talking right over you. I apologize. Continue your thought. Ex: That’s OK. Did Dasha drop her pen or something? Were you trying to get her attention? Taz: No, it’s my uncle up there in the right hand corner in the red shirt, Vin, keeps waving at me. Ex: Red shirt Jones over there. Taz: Yeah, Vin. Uncle Vin. _Later, during the Dark Order vs 2point0 and Daniel Garcia match, the audience is yelling “You Suck” to team 2point0._ Taz: I hate it when they chant that stuff towards you, Excalibur. Notable debuts on Dynamite this week: Marina Shafir, formerly of NXT, and Josh Woods, formerly of RoH, somebody I think is going to make it big some day. Since Woods is on board, that gives me hope that Silas Young, his former abusive mentor, will be signed on as Darby Allin’s uncle from hell. According to facebook, according to some dirt sheet, Kevin Owens signed a lucerative contract extension to stay in WWE. Nothing precludes them from releasing him, like, tomorrow…but apparently not everyone wants to immediately jump ship to AEW. ---

Bryan Danielson and Adam Page just fought to a 60-minute draw in a world title match at the very beginning of Dynamite. It was an absolute war, with Danielson really heeling it up on the Texas crowd, Page getting busted open partway through the match, and the clock saving Bryan just before Page could get a pin. It was easily the longest and most intense match I think I’ve ever seen on live TV, and I can’t imagine how they’re possibly going to up the ante for the inevitable rematch. ---
