Goddamnit. I had a big long post written out, but then I went off to find something (see below) and iOs decided this page needed to be reloaded, without my post. So I’ll just make two points: 1) Best Lucha Underground vignette yet. Shades of Kill Bill (hi, Michael Cole) there–I wonder if Rodriguez can get his pal Quentin to do a little writing or directing on the DL? 1. I don’t know a whole lot about traditional Lucha, just things I’ve heard here and there and occasionally running across AAA or CMLL on a Spanish station when I’m just bored and channel surfing, but I thought that in Trios, you won either by pinning the team captain, or both of the others. Or is that only a specific type of trios match? Watching Smackdown today, it appears that Sheamus may have gained a mohawk, but he no longer has too many limes. Pity. ---

It mixes styles, and I’m sure El Jefe wouldn’t be above changing the rules for his trios division if he thought it’d give us of what we (and he) want: VIOLENCE. That said, it’d be nice if they established the rules for trios matches. I think we’ve got three more weeks of this tourney (culminating in a triple threat trios match–HOLY SHIT!), so hopefully Striker and Vampiro will get on that and let us know how it works. Speaking of rules, I’ve forgotten LU’s rules on countouts. Is it a fifteen count, but up to the discretion of the referee on whether to even start the count? Something goofy like that. He had an above average match with DB, but then again Sheamus’s problem was never his wrestling ability. It ended weird though because DB got cut open (AGAIN) and was outside the ring, BNB was on commentary and eventually just Bull Hammered DB and he lost via countout. Ms Cups says that it was because the match was SUPPOSED to be Ziggler/DB vs. Sheamus/BNB…Zigs is hurt though? ---

Yes, Sheamus now has evil bagpipe music instead of Spinal Tap Lite. The first hour and a quarter of SD was kind of “eh”, then Luke Harper and Dean Ambrose fucked shit up. Harper tore off the announcer desk top and powerbombed Dean on it. They did the whole solemn ringside-doctors-carting-the-victim bit. It’s setting up for some kind of trash match at EXTRRRRRREME RULES. Yes, they’re already promoting the next PPV, but Luke and Dean alone will be worth it. Dean: HeyLukeyoulooklikeyouwannakilleme. Sohowzaboutityouwannakillme? Luke: Yes. Dean: OKdrawthishacksawacrossmyhead. Thenwhipemyfacewithit. Canyoudothat? YouwannapeelmyfaceofflikeHannibalLector? Luke: drool Dean: Yeahthenyoucanwearmyface. I’dratherlookatmyfacethanyours, cuzyouoneuglymotherfucker. DBD looked like he had a big bloody smear on his head after BNB popped him with the Bullhammer. Maybe WWE has decided to slide into PG-13 territory. ---

Well apparently there was some heat on Sheamus for reckless in that match and not protecting DBD like he should have. At one point the commentators even called him out for that, which is saying something. ---

Under what AAA refers to as “Australian rules” for some reason, that is indeed how most trios matches work - there’s a captain, and you win by either pinning the other team’s captain or pinning both the other members. ---

Is this a genuine retirement where AJ gets a pension plan, merchandising payouts, etc. at 28? Or is this a nice way of saying she told WWE to go fuck themselves and will never darken their doorstep again? ---

Over on Cageside a lot of folks were speculating that the wording suggested she might be taking on either a backstage role or moving into some sort of non-wrestling onscreen role. I was never a huge fan, but I never really saw that much of her, honestly. I did like having someone who wasn’t another bland model around, and will miss her for that if nothing else. By the way, for a day of releases, I’d like to nominate Evabot and “COUNT IT!” Cameron. Make some room for ladies who can actually work and/or have personalities, girls. ---

Other than her fiiiiine stomach the divas division is now one less performer who doesn’t obnoxiously scream and/or talk every goddamn second of her match. Now it’s down to basically just Nattie, Paige and…Naomi? I think? ---

Vince likes Charlotte and Sasha, so maybe this is their chance to step up. There’s also Layla, Summer Rae, & Alicia Fox sitting on the sidelines. Personally, I miss when Layla teamed up with Michelle McCool and they were _FLAWLESS_. McCool’s married to UT now, so she’s set. ---

For now, though, I’m gonna jump on the “she’s preggers and that’s why she spent 90% of her 'Mania match lying on the floor not taking any bumps” train. ---
