I love to drive. And I love cars. I drive long distances just to look at a field of nicely polished cars, maintained by others who feel the same way.
You don’t actually sit in my car and operate it as a machine, but rather you slip into a low seated position with your legs straight out in front of you. You point your eyes where you wish to go and your body and the car go there. Flowing around corners, rocketing off the line. Rock 'n Roll blasting out the T-tops.
I am in love with the back roads, I am in league with the freeway.
But I make a lousy passenger.

Please PM. If there’s some quaint B&B’s along the way I’m there. I too have driven it in bits and pieces, but I’m really itching to do the whole thing. And, in the Yes I’m Crazy Mode, I actually want to see if it is possible to build the entire thing in a sim like rFactor, tho I know it probably would take about half of eternity to do it justice (it has been photographed on Google for its entire length, and the program to build it can import curve and elevation data).

I’ve always loved to drive. The feeling of being in control, of seeing the countryside…

I \*\*\*love \*\*\*the open road. Matter of fact, I’m in the middle of a 8-day road trip right now. Nothing like getting up in the morning, looking at a map for an interesting place to go, and heading off in that general direction. So many roads, so little time!

It depends. I love to drive on the open road. Commuting, though, pisses me off. I live in an area where to get to work, I can do 162 km/h (car is limited beyond that), but I often can’t because of the traffic. But let me onto the open road, and I can have fun.
Back in my real home where I usually live, though, and I’m paranoid of the police. You go more than 85 mph, and they tend to pull you over. During commuting hours, though, you’re lucky if you can maintain 50 mph (in a 65 mph zone) without gridlock.
I do love road trips, though, just about anywhere. Once you’re outside of a metro area, it’s just nirvana.

Love driving. There was nothing better than taking a weekend and just cruising someplace I’d never been, usually in Minnesota or North Dakota. Lots of scenery, neat places to eat, and people to meet.

Between the day I turned 16 and the day I turned 17, I put like 45k on my Harley. Living so far in the middle of no-where helped and finding ways to go from Moosic PA to Danville PA via Point Pleasant NJ helped. But it was mostly an initial burst of freedom that comes to some folks on two wheels. Open road is the best but I can even enjoy barely-crawling-DC-Beltway-rush-hours. As long as I’m wrapped around the metal rather than sitting in it, I’m fine.

Back in college I used to jump in my car with a friend and we had nothing planned, nothing in particular to do and so we’d drive. Any time, day or night. Radio on, pick a road and see where it goes. It was awesome! I can still conjure the picture of being at the wheel of my '74 International Scout (manual transmission, of course), late at night on a back road with my friend in the car and “Radar Love” by Golden Earring blaring from the stereo… Good times!

Love, love, love.
Used to be cars - now it’s motorbikes.
To me, it’s a freedom. A great Sunday for me, is to go for a 3 or 4 hour ride, stop for lunch somewhere, then go a different way home. Perfect would be if all other traffic (and all cops) disappeared for the day too!

I didn’t learn to drive until I was 30 . . . and it didn’t take long for me to love it (3 speeding tickets in the first month). Someday I’d love to go on a really long trip, like drive to all 48 continuous U.S. states, taking pictures of all the “welcome” signs.

I remember being a bit timid about changing lanes when I first got my learner’s permit (I used to hum the theme to _Mission Impossible_ to psych myself up for a lane change), but by the time I was fully licensed I enjoyed driving. That enjoyment grew to love, and these days I love driving so much that I went to the track for full days of high-speed driving instruction _with an '02 Nissan Sentra sedan_. Twice. And had a blast both times. 😃
Imagine how much more I’ve been loving driving – and the track – since I got my '08 Mazda RX-8. 🆒
I’m hoping to try autocross next month.

Wow, not me: I often think that I could never be an OTR trucker because those things just move too damn slow! It would drive me crazy! (no pun intended)

I do.
An idyllic life for me would be to have the financial freedom to retire, buy a station wagon and hit the road. Comfortable driving, plus I can sleep in it if desired or necessary. There’s a lot of the USA that I have seen and want to go back to, and there’s a helluva lot more that I haven’t seen.

I feel that way about my bicycle. Nothing better than going for a nice long ride on a backroad or interesting trail. I also like it because you can really see the sites scenary and stopping is easy. I also like to stop at historical markers which I do while riding and rarely do while driving.

I really enjoy a wide open drive. Throw some tunes on, cruise. It’s nice.
I prefer driving to flying een for moderately long distances. If I have work six or seven hours away and my schedule allows, I will drive if at all possible.

I really enjoy driving, even in our not so sporty Prius.
My last vacation was a road trip through Arizona and Utah in a rented Mustang Convertible and it was the most awesome thing ever. I’ve also enjoyed the California Pacific Highway and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
I currently work from home, so I’m in the odd position of actually missing having a commute!

I love it. I feel so free when I’m driving. I feel sometimes like I’m at one with my car and we are taking the curves together. I have never found driving a chore but something fun.

I’ve always loved driving. I’m not a car freak, just want one that runs well and is comfortable. Or for off-roading, something with clearance and 4WD.
It’s the driving itself that floats my boat.
