I have a weakness for Chick Lit, and this was Chick-Lit-On-TV. I missed a big hunk in the middle (got a phone call), but I really liked it. ---

I was hoping to like this show, because I can’t think of many things I’d rather do than look at Heather Graham for half an hour a week. (Well, none that I’m going to discuss here.) But I was disappointed. Stereotyped characters (sassy gay friend, superbitch rival), predictable situations, and not many funny lines. I may watch a few more eps to see if they can do anything with it, but frankly I don’t see much promise for the concept. The thing I hate most in comedy is formula. It’s why I never cared for _Seinfeld_ and why I haven’t watched _Saturday Night Live_ for the last 20 years. I like my comedy to be a little quirky and off-beat, and in the first episode, _Emily_ showed few sparks of individuality. And if every show is going to be why she can’t get along with a new boyfriend, how boring will that be? ---

Unimpressive. Ooh! Ooh! She left a message on the guy’s voice mail, realized she’d jumped to conclusions, and tried to prevent him from retrieving the message. Never seen _that_ on a sitcom before. :rolleyes: ---

The horror! I didn’t watch the show (lacking, as I do, one of those new-fangled devices on which to receive them “wireless signals”) but as I hadn’t seen her in anything in a while I’d assumed that Heather Graham had been consigned to late night Cinemax softcore. I guess it’s good she’s still around, though I could name a dozen actresses in her age range that I’d rather watch. Stranger ---

I have recorded it. I think Heather Graham is hot, so I figured it would be worth a watch. ---

I DVR’d it for my wife and watched it with her. It was mildly enjoyable. I will watch it again. I would not watch it without a DVR (wouldn’t make time for it), but I will give it a shot if I can watch it on my own schedule. ---

It wasn’t good. More disappointingly, neither was “Jake in Progress.” (Which was good last year). I was worried I’d have a problem with those shows going up against “24,” because I’m not home on Mondays and I can only record one thing at a time. Not worried anymore. ---

Life magazine is now published as a weekly newspaper insert, and Heather Graham’s publicist got Heather on the cover of this week’s issue as the star of a “bubbly new sitcom”. Clearly the bubble has burst… ---
