I have one almost exactly like that but it’s snakeskin. Unfortunately, my mother threw away the snakeskin pumps that went with it.
I love my Yak Pak bag. It’s got exactly the right amount of pockets to be useful, but none of those wierd pockets you end up never using. It is very secure and has some great little security features that have made it just as perfect on the streets of Oakland as the Yaounde open-air market. It’s reasonably nice looking, goes with both work clothes and casual clothes (and African clothes!) and has been very durable. And the model I have is the perfect size- small enough that it isn’t like another appendage, but somehow when I end up picking up a pineapple at the market, it manages to magically fit.
Honestly, I never managed to use a purse before this one.
I’ve got a Timbuk2 bag. Got it about a year ago when I wanted a sturdy bag to take to Europe with me. It was used when I got it (eBay), but looked practically new. I’ve since become convinced that I could feed it into a garbage disposal and it would come out just fine on the other side.
I’ve also got this bag, which is a good size for someone like me (my Theory of Purses is I must be able to fit an obscene amount of stuff in it), and it’s cute.
Thanks again for all the suggestions, it’s been really helpful. I ordered myself a timbuk2 bag market bag, but I’ll probably get at least one more of a different type for other occasions and situations.
I gave up on handbags (never room for books!) and got this leather messenger bag. But I didn’t like the color so I called the maker and they made me one in dark brown for the same price. Now I love my bag so much.
