Me neither, I was only 3 years old. I missed the previous one in 1956 completely! But if you _do_ remember, what do you remember about it? The next one won’t be around until 2040. ☹ A pity, it would make for a hell of a party. And still will, I suppose. But without me, most likely. To those of you here who live to celebrate it, remember me with some chocolate bead necklaces, I guess. 🆒 ---

For we Catholics, bishops are saying that Valentine’s Day should be celebrated on Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday), because of the conflict with fasting and abstinence on Ash Wednesday. StG ---

Yep, our pastor announced the Ash Wednesday Mass times and then confirmed that yes, Ash Wednesday takes precedence over Valentine’s Day. ---

I have a friend(and he’s on this board too!) whose church is named for St. Patrick. Their saint’s day is usually in Lent but they can celebrate it. In 2008 however Easter was so early, on March 23, that #/17 fell on Monday of Holy Week. While you can have a celebration during Lent, you just don’t do it during the week before Easter. So they had to celebrate early. ---

My friend calls Valentine’s Day on Ash Wednesday “Heartburn Day”. ---
