Anybody NOT feed their dog wet dog food?

I only feed my dogs raw meat, bones, and organs. They never get the runs (although there is definitely a tricky adjustment period if you are switching them onto this type of diet!).

I know a lot of people who only feed their dogs dry kibble. It’s not a big deal. Eating the same plain food every day isn’t a barrel of laughs, but it never hurt anyone.

Just an FYI but you should gradually introduce new dog food. There can be bouts of the runs when switching dog food, but of course that may not be an issue for you :D.

I very seldom switch dog foods except puppy chow to ALS at 4 months. I did switch one puppy from Iams to Purina 1. I drug the switch out over a week. It still took a month for her stools to firm up. They were formed, just softer.

My mother’s dog needs to be fed his food by hand. But it IS kibble.

Huddy also gets the occasional dinosaur bone for his teeth and to keep him happy.

The chihuahua gets 1/4 C Eukanuba in the morning and another in the afternoon. She has never seen wet food, so she can’t miss what she has never had, I guess. If I changed her diet I guess she could sulk, but when she got hungry enough she would eat. She loves her food and does a twirling happy dance when she sees me pick up her bowl.

My Shi Tzu/Westie sisters are named after you because they look like eyebrows when they get loose and run along together. I add more OOOOOOOs to the Doom.

Had a Cocker so adept at climbing into the twins’ high chairs and eating what was on their trays without them noticing that I bought one bag of kibble in two years. As an American Indian guy (emphasis probably on the “guy,” but this was the late 60s) told my wife, “A hunting dog that won’t steal food is no damned good.” Didn’t hunt her, but I usually made a target before she did.

I feed my dog dry food only, but some of his treats (for training) are kind of mushy. He does have other things to look forward to. There’s the walks. The chasing of the balls. The stealing of the cats’ food (also dry). And of course learning stuff. LOTS of things to look forward to.

It’s Blue Buffalo puppy food, I think lamb flavor (well, not just flavor, there’s actual meat in there).

We only serve our Dobie dry Nature’s Plan, but she gets at least some of everything we eat, plus treats. Plus unidentified things she finds outdoors.

We used to give her Blue Buffalo, which coincided with her having some “accidents” in our bed. I doubt the dog food had anything to do with it, but we switched just to be on the safe (and dry) side. But not before we posted her baby picture at the Blue Buffalo site: http://www.bluebufftradingcards.com/PetAlbum-Inside.aspx?PTID=1&BID=59&SID=11&PNS=lilith&AIX=0

My parents’ dog has always had stomach problems. She’s been on Science Diet Adult Sensitive Stomach dry food for most of her life and is a healthy, happy, slightly demented 13-year-old. When she has a flare-up despite the special diet, or refuses to eat the dry stuff, my parents give her white rice (the vet said it was okay).
