Jim Carey and Jennifer Anniston?
If this movie was being shown for free with “All-you-eat-popcorn” across the street, I wouldn’t bother to turn off an episode of “Mayberry RFD” to look out the window to see if there was a line.

I just loved this movie!! Now, bear in mind that I’m heavily medicated and thought I was going to be forced to stay awake for the Matrix Redux (or whatever it’s called.) When Hubby bought tickets to this, I thought nice comedy with BONUS! Morgan Freeman, whom I adore.
This movie was so funny in places that I cried. Yeah, the ending was a little preachy, but the flub reel in the credits MORE than made up for it. There are so many little nuances and pop-culture references that I kept looking for them. Loved it.

Has he actually learned how to _act_ yet? In all the promos and clips Ive seen for this, he still hasn’t hit on the difference bwteen “acting” and “making faces.” Even in his serious films, he doesn’t so much develop a character as do, “now I’m going to put on my Concerned Expression. Now I’m going to put on my Wistful Expression.”

Carrey acting? Not so much, but not as horribly annoying as in some movies. His scenes with Morgan Freeman - he’s actually OK. Not necessarily good, but doing more than hitting his mark and making a face. But then again, Morgan Freeman is so wonderful, he could even make Ashley Judd act better… Well he tried anyway.
No, it’s everyone else in this movie that makes it a good movie. And when did Jennifer Anniston learn to act? She was more than just Good-Hair-Nice-Boobies. I was very surprised.

Sanctimonious twaddle. Between this, _The Truman Show_, and _The Majestic_, Carrey is in the running to become his generation’s Robin Williams as a purveyour of mawkish, sentimental cheese. Carrey’s desperation to uplift his audience, combined with the movie’s painful lack of imagination completely undermined the few funny moments. _The Cable Guy_ remains Carrey’s best movie by far.
**DeVena** , please seek out the under-appreciated movie, _The Good Girl_, to see how good an actress Jenifer Aniston can really be.

Not as good as Liar Liar but still funny and never boring.
I think the guy that played the anchorman stole the show when he did his “possesed by Bruce” bit.
It was the only part of the movie where I laughed out loud and couldn’t catch my breath.

I was not planning to see this movie, but I went yesterday to try and see “Mighty Wind” and it was having technical difficulties. “Bruce Almighty” was about the only other thing playing at the time and I’d recently read a rather positive review by Ebert so I thought, why not? I’m definitely not a big Jim Carrey style movie fan, but the first half (or so) of the movie was hilarious. By the end, it’d become so preachy I felt vaguely nauseated. But just the same, it was nice to laugh so hard I almost choked on my coke. That hasn’t happened for a while.
Speaking of movies people’ll be seeing for the eye candy, I go into teenybopper mode every time I see an ad for “Pirates of the Carribean.” Johnny Depp as a pirate–I may implode from the sheer hotness factor here. Mr. Legolas is just a bonus.

No kidding. Even the [CAP Alert](http://www.capalert.com/capreports/brucealmighty.htm) folks gave it a thumbs up, which in my book is **always** an indication that a movie is way too preachy.

[spoiler]Grace watches the news the next morning, which says that someplace (I can’t remember where) a huge tidal wave/tsunami has hit, as a result of freak lunar occurences.
Also, I thought his powers were confined to the Buffalo area, or was that just his prayers?[/spoiler]
I loved it, myself. It did get too preachy but if you ignore that, it’s a hilarious movie.

Pretty good. As others have said, the first half or so is better than the conclusion though.
One nitpick (and I’m probably being too literal here):
[spoiler] When Aniston catches him kissing the other anchorwoman and freaks out, why doesn’t he just wipe that memory from her mind? I mean, he’s GOD for…god’s sake! I suppose I can buy the “free will” argument for not being able to make her love him, but just clear her memory and the whole thing is solved. Of course, then there’s no conflict to resolve.
