Was it a “major” release, as in being readily available to the public in many theaters (i.e., not an “independent film” or DVD release, etc.)? ---

It was a major release, although hardly anyone saw it in theaters because it was launched at more or less the same time as a bunch of films that turned out to be blockbusters. ---

I don’t know if I’d call them stars, exactly… but at least one of the cast members was an SNL alum, and there are at least two whose names would be instantly recognizable to pretty much any adult. ---

Hmmm… I misspoke. One of the cast members is an SNL alum _now_, but was still a member of the SNL cast when the film was released. ---
