Frankly, I can’t believe how much of a dick Brad Kelly on the “The Reaper” is, on Bering Sea Gold. He lies. He steals from his sons. Jumped his son, Kris, who is IMHO the only one in the family with any skill or experience. I frankly hate Brad Kelly and want to kick his ass myself. Whatchuthink? ---

I watched the first season or two of it and was amused, but not enough to keep following the show. When I did watch it, I read some articles that asked dredge operators about it, and their opinion of the show people was universally negative. Pretty much no one who knows what they’re doing and runs a successful business would want to deal with a camera crew getting in their way and telling them what to do, so the only people interested in the show were either brand new or were the incompetents that no one actually wanted to deal with. I’m not really surprised that the people still on the show are dickish people. Also I was impressed by how much the houses and boats looked like something from the Borderlands game, I thought the game overdid the ‘scrap metal slapped together’ theme but it turns out it’s realistic. ---

I dunno. Would that also apply to Deadliest Catch and Gold Rush? Some of them are making money, and likely would be without TV. I’m not familiar with the “Borderlands game”. ---

My main quarrel is with this Brad guy, the biggest prick I’ve ever seen on “reality” TV. He steals from his sons. I guess it’s just “reality” TV, so it’s not real. But if this guy IS real, he’s fucking awful. ---

I was never a huge fan of the show but I’d watch it every so often…until Brad came along, that is. He is a prick. He’s also the reason why I lost interest. ---

It is difficult to say that the Pomrenke crew that owns the Christine Rose are not successful. This season they are a little down, but in seasons past, they were measuring their cleanups of gold by the pound rather than the ounce. When they show the overhead of their “compound” they have millions in heavy equipment and buildings neatly lined up like they do something besides just make gold. The “Fightin’ Kellys” are a joke and only on the show for comedic relief in my opinion. I enjoy the show, but usually skip past any of their scenes. It looks like they are going to get into it with Zeke and his new corporate masters next episode. More contrived drama… ---

Watched the first few years. Gave it up a couple of weeks ago. Too much drama, too little actual mining. ---

RE: Stealing from sons You’ve got to take it with a grain of salt when he specifically shows and tells the camera how he steals from his sons, when they presumably have TVs and/or at least friends who watch the show. They know they have to try to keep it interesting, because people sure aren’t tuning in to watch their gold-getting skills.
