Around here, only WalMart and K-Mart had the PS2 on a first come first serve basis. WalMart got in 35 units, K-Mart got in 12. My friend, on a hunch, went to K-Mart first at 6:00 this morning. People were given a number as they arrived and after 12 the rest were turned away. She was number 3. At 8 a.m. when the store opened she just went up to the counter and purchased the unit for $299.00. She was getting it for another friend that was giving it to her son for Christmas. A good samaritan.
My son also prefers Dreamcast. He doesn’t care about the PS2. He also thinks it is too expensive.
Just goes go show, some people were able to get them, but no where near as many as wanted one.

With the market flooded now, no they won’t sell for that much. You can still get a Japanese psx2 with memory card for $449.00 overseas. I just got the ad from them today.
I missed getting a psx2 today because:
1. circuit city employees pre-bought all of theres.
2. target opened early & I got there when there were about 7 people & 3 psx 2’s left.
3. costco & kmart didn’t have any.
I looked around at Target & the dvd remote control is not in stock. They said because the remotes are defective, which turned me off because there are no psx2’s you can get in exchange if this batch sucks. I still have a EB preorder, though. I saw a guy on ebay. sell his preorder for $1500… what a joker.

Good luck getting $3-$5,000 for them!! Are you kidding? I know you can get $700-$1000 for it but no way will you ever get $3-$5K. I will keep and eye on ebay and I’ll eat my words if I’m wrong.

FTR, my guess is that at its absolute highest, the market will support $2,500 - and this only coming a week or so before Christmas. If I had an extra to sell, I probably wouldn’t expect any more than $2,000.

checking out ebay already turns up ps2’s going for nearly $2,000 and it’s not even christmas. it’s still october. give it time and when those little bastards, that people call children, start whining and demanding one, then we will see how high ps2 can go. last year, gameboys were on ebay for $1,000 a piece. they are only $70. those people really got jacked for their money.

Dude… that is ridiculous… no wonder you have people out there that always expect to get what they want. No F’ing way would I ever have a spoiled kid like that. It makes me sick. Bleh. Good for you though for taking advantage of it. I wish I had the foresight to preorder one back in May. I’ll wait until they’re available for the normal price to get one, maybe by then I’ll know how good the games for X-Box will be, since it is by far the superior system.

Maybe I could see the Square argument if they actually had a game out for it- its like waiting for Metroid for N64. I can’t believe what people are doing for this this thing- you’ve got idiots willing to overpay jackasses like Asianmagik (who brags about being honest gouging people?!?), [people robbing kids](http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A22589-2000Oct26.html), ridiculously long lines, etc… to play what? Old Playstation games? DOA2 (which is better on DC) and RR5, which reviewers have said looks like they don’t have anti-aliasing? Madden, which is unanimously 2nd place to NFL 2K1 in gameplay (but does feature better graphics)? Tekken, which got stale a while ago? SSX and Madden are the only games that I’ve seen get 9’s for the PS2. I’m with DKW- if there’s a good reason to get the PS2, now is not the time. Wait til the hype dies down and it has several more worthwhile games for it.
DKW- I recommend 4 player NBA 2K (or 2K1 which’ll be out soon). Each person chooses a dfferent player and sticks with em for most of the game. Power Stone 2 is lotsa fun 4 player but really confusing. Do you play NFL2K1 online and, if so, what’s your handle? I’m Riggo44dc. I’m gonna get my online game on now, another thing PS2 doesn’t have yet.

Bouncer. Squaresoft. One’s a game for the PS2, one’s the company that makes it. (Hint: There’s no game called Squaresoft.) Oh yes, and Dead or Alive 2 - that’s Dead or Alive 2: Hardcore…but older, right? With less costumes, arenas, characters, and moves? Yeah, sounds pretty kickass.
Madden unanimously second to NFL 2K1, huh? Unanimous means everybody.

I’m sure there are reviews that say NFL2K1 are better, and I’m even sure some of them aren’t from Dreamcast sites. But who cares? Different strokes for different folks. Try and be a little more open-minded. Some people like the N64, though it’s largely a kiddie system, some people like the less-kiddie Dreamcast, others (many others) prefer the PS2, while some enjoy the content to be found on the PC. Specs aside, no system is inherently better than another, since each will have different games and it is ultimately this that will set them apart from one another in a consumer’s eyes. So, to summarize, dude, chill.

According to DailyRadar’s Sega site, " NFL 2K1 is so vastly improved over its predecessor that it easily wrests away the title of “Best Football Videogame of All Time” and easily scores a direct hit." So there’s some internal dissention there. But most sites will give 2K1 the advantage in gameplay (as well as commentary and the fact that it supports online play) while giving Sony the nod for graphics.

I got my PS2 yesterday. My problem was I couldn’t find any memory cards for it. Oh well, played it for a couple of hours. It is cool, but I wouldn’t say it is blow me away so much better than anything I’ve ever seen cool. Tonite I go out and get Madden 2001, so we’ll see if this makes a difference.

$15,000. Ah yes. The catch is the buyer has Zero, zippo, feedback. Thus, probably not a real one.
You guys know that you can buy a _new_ Japanese Playstation 2 (which works much better than an USA one, Im sure), with a memory card & US voltage adapter for only $449.00? No sales tax, shipping is a bit though. But then some [ebay.com](http://ebay.com) psx2s have $40 shipping.
Anyway, the Japanese PSX2 can play all US games, dvds, & there is a mod chip for it, if you know what those are.
I have a feeling that american psx2s are glitchy & you can’t exchange them if there is no supply.

Just played Madden for the PS2 at Best Buy where it is set up next to a DC with NFL 2k1. Madden looks mucch better but plays worse. Running is sluggish at best and animations take waaaayy too long. Anyone remember “Blast Processing”?🙂

I’ll admit it. I’m a Playstation fanboy.
Never had any problem with the system, and their games are top-notch. I will buy a PS2 when more become available (the Wal-Mart I work at had 32 at launch…they were sold to the first 32 people in line. Employees weren’t allowed to buy them). Sure, word around the sandbox is that PS2 is hard to develop for. That won’t stop serious developers (read: Squaresoft) from making awesome games. I have nothing against Sega, Nintendo, or Microsoft, I just happen to be a Sony fan and will put forth the money to attain what is quite possibly the best system yet.
To those who say the lineup sucks, that there aren’t enough games, blah blah blah…give it time. Games that tax the limits of the PS1 are still being created. How could you go wrong by buying a system with some already-awesome games, knowing that the quality will only increase? Dreamcast is awesome. I’m sure the Gamecube will be, too. I’m almost afraid of how sick the X-Box is going to be. But for now, make mine PS2.

Easy. Its just like the first batch of Japanese PSX2’s, some of them were crappily made. There were 20 models of them. Now people with the US PSX2s are finding glitches too. So, expect a newer model soon.
Plus, you can’t exchange your psx2 because there aren’t any at the store.
So, waiting can be a benefit. I have a predorder coming in soon but I don’t know if I want to keep it or not.
