I shall. This thread is so packed with info, I think I’m going to print it out, reread and digest all the recommendations, get out the highlighter and form a plan of action.
There’s a Yuengling brewery just across town from me, near Busch Gardens. I am in Tampa. It’s a very popular beer locally, probably moreso because it’s generally the only fresh decent beer on tap at places that aren’t targeted to a more discerning taste. I was really surprised to find Chimay on tap at the Tampa Bay Brewing Company a couple of weeks ago. And Grimbergen. Whee!
I really do think you should give Milwaukee’s Best Light a chance. It is actually formulated as a light beer, so it isn’t just a watered down version of Milwaukee’s Best. It has a nice beery flavor and is cheap!
And just so I don’t make silenus’s head explode, I’ll also recommend that you find a local or regional brewery near you and try a Cream Ale, I have a hunch you would enjoy that style.
My first suggestion is to start trying the myriad other, better Mexican brews available out there. Pacifico, Modelo Especial, Dos Equis…all would meet your needs quite well. Tecate is workingman’s beer, sort of a Mexican Coors. I’ve been known to stock the cooler with Modelo on a hot summer’s day.
I’ve had Dos Equis and remember it as good. I shall try these to keep your head intact, silenus.
And perhaps the next time I’m at the groc, I’ll take August’s suggestion, too. shh
Try Genesee Cream Ale if you can find it. A great swill beer I try to find every time I’m back East.
Ah, I grew up* on Genesee Cream Ale. A decent inexpensive light Ale brewed in NY state. Excellent for people who are not looking for a heavy or Hoppy beer and ideal in **ice cold ** in the 7oz nips.

- My older brother use to buy us beer at a one beer per pack charge. Genny’s was cheap and fairly good tasting. We were happy.
Oh, yeah. The nips. Brings back memories, along with PBR in 8 ounce “Roadies.” Just the thing for bombing around on Texas backroads.
