New series, sort of a “Bones” spin-off, about a guy with an uncanny ability to “find” things, along with a quirky (but, they hope, interesting) personality. Michael Clark Duncan survived from the “Bones” episode, but Saffron Burrows did not. The main dude and title character, Geoff Stults, I’ve never heard of before, but he seemed to do a good job of creating a memorable character. So what did you all think? ---

The original book series revolved around the title, _The Locator_. I haven’t seen the show, like Duncan, think Burrows is pretty, but am not optimistic about the show. If only for its title, which is at least as stupid as that of the original books, if two books qualifies as a series beyond a Geometry teacher’s definition of a line. ---

It wasn’t bad. I’ll probably watch a few more and see how it goes. Right now I’m mostly interested in seeing how the character of Willa develops. ---

Is it better than _Bones_? I didn’t exactly dislike the show. Well, yes I did, but mostly for the title character. So I suppose I should ask if it’s about as good, just with no Bones to screw things up. ---

Didn’t see the pilot. The first episode was OK. I like the characters but I can see the premise getting old fast. And the military stuff was ridiculous though someone not in the military may not have been bothered. Nice cameo by John Fogerty. I wonder if celebrity cameos will be the norm. ---

It was good enough that I imagine I’ll sample it at least a few more times. I was a little worried when Walter got down on the runway that they were going to just pile the quirks on until I had to run screaming from the television, but gratefully, that didn’t happen. And I did quite enjoy the sequence where, to steal a phrase from _Spaceballs_, he was playing with his dolls. I predict that the part of the story involving the girl and her attempts to eventually get at the money down in the vault will turn out to be what I like least about the show. ---

ETA: Dish Network and Fox, you play that delay game with shows with established audiences. For the newbies you try to ESTABLISH an audience by letting us who were out last night catch up on your new shows. I read “Marketing for Dummies.” Just how stupid are you? ---

The “No show for YOU” sign is still up but it’s unlocked. Fogarty needs to stop dying his hair. He’s probably there because he did the title song, but Hart Hanson loves his classic rockers. I liked Saffron Burrows better. ---

Liked it better than the backdoor pilot on Bones last year, but that’s not saying much. They should’ve at least addressed what happened to the character that’s no longer there. At least a “she died on the way back to her home planet” or something. New blonde girl was quite nice on the eyes, but otherwise pretty annoying. Even with the explanations they gave for why she lives there it doesn’t really make sense, but whatever. I hope her stupid gypsy storyline doesn’t drag on forever. Also, is her name Willow or Willa? I swear half the time they called her one, then the other. Michael Clarke Duncan is the real highlight of the show, IMO. I get the sense he’s really having fun with the role. ---

Here is something I found interesting that others probably didn’t see. I watched last weeks Miami Vice themed episode with my mother. She watches with closed captioning on. Near the end they did the old action no dialogue thing with music. No idea what the music was. But it did not match the closed captioning. To go with the theme it was Summglers Blues by Glen Frey. I assume they planned on using it but had a problem getting the rights. ---

Yeah, I liked it well enough. It isn’t great TV, but it is an OK way to waste an hour. I’ll watch it some more. ---

I liked this second ep better than the first one. But it still wasn’t as good as the one embedded in the Bones episode. ---

Has Sweets ever been shown recommending hypnosis before? Maybe he has and I just forgot, but it seemed a bit out of character to me. ---

I have to say, I was kind of impressed that Willa arranged for a beatdown of the evil CEO, at least from a storytelling perspective. A relatively light and quirky show like this one could easily have tried to sell us a really watered-down version of a wayward character in need of redemption, one who allegedly had a long way to go without actually demonstrating much toward that end. Instead, we get a girl who likes to break out the Louisville Slugger. I still wouldn’t mind if she didn’t end up making it to a hypothetical second season, but at least the writers are giving some decent effort on her character.
