I pretty much blew it off at home. Four kids came to the door, so I was grateful I had a few candy bars. But I didn’t decorate, no pumpkin, and certainly didn’t dress up.
At work I decorated the office a little and got it out of me. I would love to go to a costume party but my other half sometimes has too much dignity and I don’t really know anyone else who would be willing to go with me.
I always blow it off, except for having a bit of candy around for the wife to dole out. I don’t like parties, decorating is a pain, and I think it’s a stupid holiday. The only good thing about it is that there are more horror movies on, and I love (non-slasher) horror movies. TCM, I think it was, showed “The Dark Old House” last night, which is a rarely-seen gem.
First only about one house in five is open for ToT’ing around here, then it rained buckets and blew monsoon like. The kids were back in an hour with less candy than we had in our bowl to give away. We had our doorbell rung once. Those kids were set up on a tarp covered trailer towed behind an ATV.
Most folks go to the townie neighborhoods or the racetrack for freebies.
It was the worst halloween ever, by my standards. The kids seemed satisfied so who am I to complain.
I would love to blow off all the holidays, but with kids you have to fake it through for their sake.
I got some candy just in case, but I have no neighbors in sight except for one house about 500 feet away. I didn’t think there would be any trick or treaters, and there weren’t.
There seems to be a new thing around here called “Trunk or Treat” that’s sort of like a tailgate party at schools and churches. People decorate the trunks/beds of their vehicles and give out candy. Ah, the modern parking lot culture, gotta love it.
