> The left sound like a bunch of quivering puppies, whining at a door shutting. Yea i do hope the Democrats win. Hate to think half the country is so caught up in this that they will wig out if they lose. Say what want to about the most of the right if they lose they will go ahhhh shit, but get up go to work and it wont overtly affect them as much as the overly paranoid left. Maybe then just maybe with victory they can reach across the aisle and accomplish something, of course after they re-up the Russian probe and essentially stalemate the government for 2 years till the Presidential election

I still say that we need one Russia probe for every Benghazi inquiry.

Joe Donnelly isn’t doing well so far, and CNN’s exit poll showed Trump with a 52% favorability in Indiana. It’s not looking good for the senate ☹

Well, red/rural precincts usually report first.

Predictit has him as a 2:1 underdog at this point, but as you say it is still early. I feel like this is watching a car wreck in slow motion.

I’m really really worried about election tampering in all aspects. I fully expect there to be some really ugly shit coming out with voter roles and exit polling differences.

We’re going to try to appeal to even MORE people that don’t vote than we did before! Young people rise up! Hey, I said rise up! Rise… put down those damn phones!” So screw 'em. And the Republicans deserve whatever they get for letting Trump take over their party.

> This is probably the first election where I’m going to enjoy seeing people lose more than seeing them win. Lots of candidates in both parties that seem just a little too smug about their righteousness and could stand a bitch slap from voters.

Unforunately, no one is going to take a step back and say “If you millionaire white celebrities could STFU this go around that’d be great”

IOW if the bitch slap of 2016 wont work, nothing will.

Amazing how often people say “It can’t happen here…” …until it does. History may not repeat itself, but it often rhymes.

Maybe they should have harassed Goebbels in restaurants back in the thirties. Should have been plenty of opportunity; that guy looked like he could swallow small children whole.

Well, I was half right.

The Dems won the House handily. So far it looks like they will lose a seat or even two in the Senate.

Germany in 1933 was reeling from WW1 economically. While here we got a growing economy a strong two party government that shows no signs of collapsing. As much as I think the democrats are arrogant, myopic and wrong minded dont have problem living in a district or city governed by them. Even if you want to jump to the imbecilic conclusion that Trump is Hitler thats your paranoid delusion. He will be gone in 6 yearsor less dont worry your little sweet democratic heart about it

I’m not crazy about Godwinizing but you do miss something. This country is _overall_ continuing a long economic run. The investor class, the wealthiest, are doing extremely well. Whites with no college education … well more of them have jobs now that unemployment has gotten so low but wages (adjusted for inflation) are [barely](https://www.cnbc.com/2018/11/05/despite-hot-economy-wages-are-barely-growing-accounting-for-inflation.html) growing at all, “wages are growing less than 1 percent faster than inflation”. That number is overall wage growth. I am not easily finding recent wage growth broken down by education level, but if recent past is any guide the growth that there is, is going to the more highly skilled and educated, not to those whites with no college education or special skills.

So we have a large population who had once upon a time been assured of a middle class existence aided to some degree by their group identity of white Christian, who have at best stagnated. And when the economy next drops (and sooner or later it will because that is normal cycles) they will be hit hard. They do not feel secure and they are right. Meanwhile more “others” are getting education and rising above them socioeconomically and in visible positions of power.

That’s the recipe that pointing at the other(s) and blaming them works best. That was the recipe then and that is the recipe now.

And _it will get worse_ before it gets better because the no college education white group is going to fall out more next downturn and the changes that have resulted in more others becoming more successful (a less unfair playing field, more education, just more of them, so on) are going to continue no matter what Trump does. So the resentment will grow …

From yesterday’s The Atlantic: (bolding mine)

> [@](#):
>
> Sixty-seven percent of Republicans, the survey found, had “some” to “little” confidence in colleges as institutions. A number of factors contribute to this distrust, the rising cost of tuition and the perception of a liberal bent at colleges among them. And if one major party believes that higher education is an engine of liberal indoctrination, and that party’s voters are increasingly likely not to have attended college, the political benefits of an anti–higher education stance are obvious.
>
> That puts the budget lines for public colleges, in particular, at risk. Decades of funding cuts by state governments have already hit the institutions hard. And these cuts, in turn, have driven an increase in tuition costs and more animosity toward higher education. **As Michael Grunwald recently wrote in Politico, “The next big Republican culture war will be a war on college.”**

No. Increase in tuition is from guaranteed federal loans.
