I thought the plastic wrap underpants joke was _much_ funnier than the badminton-dog joke, which was exceedingly lame. I have a guy brain, I guess. Now if it had been a _cat_ and the cat had eaten two _birdies_ and the owner said “Bad Minton” **that** would be funny. Do they call shuttlecocks “birdies” in the UK? ---

Personally, I thought the joke that won in Begium was FAR funnier than the one that won worldwide. “Why do ducks have webbed feet?” “So they can stamp out forest fires.” “Why do elephants have flat feet?” “So they can stamp out ducks on fire.” For some reason I laughed out loud at this one. I know, I know…it’s embarrassing. All I can say is, I must be Belgian and my parents have been lying to me all these years. 😃 ---

I thought Monty Python made it quite clear that the funniest joke in the world could not be shared in such a public manner, as the resulting laughter-based deaths would destroy society as we know it. ---

I’m with **dragongirl**. I didn’t even smile. I think the poll was tragically flawed. I bet they left out all the jokes about sex or race and those that were otherwise politically incorrect. Offensive jokes are much funny than lame puns. ---

Frank Loyd Wright refused to enter any architectural competitions. He believed that the world gained no building worth having by a competition because: 1. The jury is necessarily a hand-picked average. Some “constituency” must agree upon the “jury.” 2. Therefore the first thing this average jury does is go through all the designs and throw out the best and the worst ones. This is necessary in order that the average may average upon something average. 3. Therefore any architectural competition will be an average upon an average in behalf of the average. 4. The net result is a building that is well behind the times before it is even built. The mediocrity of the joke could be explained by that. It is not that the joke is exceptionally funny, but that it is the best “average of the average”. Most of the above was quoted from “The Journals of Ayn Rand” Pg. 119 ---
