Years ago on NPR, I heard someone say that their family tradition after Christmas Day was Slug Day. No shopping, no cleaning, no chores or work of any kind. Just sitting around, watching any videos you might have gotten, eating Christmas candy and leftovers…it sounded great to me. So that’s what we usually do on the day after Christmas. Does anyone else partake in the sluggish tradition? ---

That’s what my family usually does. Actually, our entire Christmas Break is pretty much one big Slug Day. Unfortunately, I have to work this Slug Day, so no slugging for me. ---

No, I don’t, but plan on starting this tradition STAT! My son and I will put together a Lego castle today–and that is the extent of my brain power. ---

We have Slug Day after Thanksgiving. Too much food the day before, too many leftovers afterwards to bother cooking. We wash dishes–that’s it. ---

Sure. In Canada, we call it Boxing Day. 😉 You’re _supposed_ to give to those less fortunate on that day, but since it’s a day off of work, most of us just sit around and digest turkey and watch _Roadhouse_. ---

I am NOT going to the big Boxing Day sales. I am NOT going out at all. We are going to watch our new DVDs and there will be TURKEY sandwiches and much lazing about. 🙂 It’s good to have Boxing Day at home, to just… relax. Charitable donations were done this year, as usual, before Christmas, so today is decompress day. And eat leftovers day. ---

We do Slug Day ON Christmas. We open stuff and don’t do a frigging thing the rest of the day. Dinner was chili, aside from making that, I spent the day on my butt. We watched some football, and played every version of Scene It we could fit into the day. Today, is just some light vacumning, and taking garbage to the curb. Later I’ll show the tech-impaired Bus Wife how her I-Pod works, and when the Kid gets back from work (retail= No Slug Day for her), we tackle more games. ---

W \*could \*do it, except that: 1.) While we in Singapore " You spent Christmas with family and Boxing Day with friends," so despite being in the US now we have a boxong day party. Because my parents are not in their twenties, the “Party” means that the house has to be cleaned. 2.) The day after Christmas is the day my ol;d high school swim team has the Alumni Meet, so I have to go an pretend that I’m not horribly out of shape and do some racing. ---

I must admit that the two days before Christmas were Slug Days for me, in preparation for all the family get-togethers on the Eve and Christmas Day. It takes a fair amount of nothingness to build up enough patience for all that mess. Today, as it turns out, I had to work from 9-12 this morning before the boss said “Go home!”. And after that, I braved the high winds and cold temps on the golf course. :smack: But I’ve been a slug ever since 🙂 ---

Slug **Day**? It’s Slug _week_! I love the holidays, but between Christmas preparation at home and year-end preparation at work, I ususally average about 3 hours of sleep a night for the week before. So I always take the week between Christmas and New Year’s off to relax and spend with my daughter. We watch all our DVDs, listen to our CDs, play our games, read our books, talk a lot, and sleep a lot. It’s my favorite week of the year. ---
