I wish…
I saw a recent review that mentioned it, i.e. I did not personally see it or remember it) but it does apparently exist. That movie was strange in a lot of ways. The director also did the Mannequin sequel and “Tammy and the T-Rex” if that says anything.
But seriously, I swear I remember watching “The Empire Strikes Back” on opening weekend hearing Vader say, “Luke, I am your father”. Of course, that was several months before I was even born, so maybe I’ll grant my memory is a bit fuzzy.
It is on Youtube.
The original getting blown the fuck up ending wasn’t any less ridiculous. It was fantastic on the new version of MST3K

@ Mahaloth,
I was wondering if you might share a little bit about yourself on when and where you first saw the movie BIG. I saw it in the Dallas area in the theaters with a date. My calculation says you were around 10 years old. If my hunch is correct you saw it with friends maybe in a mall and not at home with family. Are you in the US or outside the US?
My other point is what is their opinion of the movie ending?

Hunch wrong, alas. I saw it on VHS at home(either from Blockbuster or individual store) with my family and probably taped of TV several times after that. I did see it with my family and I was born in 1978, so I was probably 10-11 when we saw it on tape.
I am in the United States, yes.
Fun fact: “Supervising Producer Mallory Tarcher” is Shari Lewis’s daughter.
Every time someone bumps this thread I feel like someone should call the meeting to order.
Only a 4 month gap this time. Oh well.
What was up with the mini-interrogation of Mahaloth? I thought for sure a ‘gotcha’ was coming next. Don’t keep us in suspense, new friend.

Here!
I get a bang out of it still.

I shall do so in the future. What should be my phrase to open our meetings?

I agree. What was up with that?
You start one little innocuous thread and folks spend the next 20 years giving you the third degree
Sorry guys…I mistakenly brought up the alternate ending yesterday and woke the beast. It’s like saying Voldemort or Betelgeuse…
Maybe there is a different opening like the very real alternate ending to Big?

I agree. What was up with that?
I’m thinking someone spilled a coke on his date during the movie, and he’s been looking for the guilty party ever since.
I am just want to say I have need of walking down to big store and exchanging paper money for clothing of this timeline and then making purchase of film BIG.
I am being from timeline where Penny Marshall became orthodontist, so no BIG, and we have only tv show called Shirley.

we have only tv show called Shirley.
Lenny and Shirley
It’s a love story. Think a Pete Duel/Judy Carne -esque show. Love in a Brewery.
OK, you deserve an explanation. This was the first movie that I asked a girl out on a date where it was just the two of us. This theater in the Dallas area had the alternate ending. I remember when the young Susan walked in I sat up in my seat, my jaw dropped open and I turned to my date and said “It’s her”.
So the movie holds a special place to me, and I have purchased the VHS, and DVD, and Blu-ray only to be disappointed. I checked out 14 going on 30 and that is not it. It is a very short seen, maybe 30 seconds, and there is only one line of dialogue by the teacher. She calls the class attention and introduces a new student but doesn’t even give a name, they let the camera do that.
There is no 3 minute scene to fill out a time slot.
As for as the two boys walking I consider that part of the closing credits. It is a recreation of a scene used in the opening credits.
There is some interesting commentary by the writers on the Blu-ray, and I will talk more about that later.
